Being recognized Jul 12, 2008 I found the first 39 pages of this book boring. Mostly religion, and the new Exodus Group that is in Vogue, now. I realize gays have a hard time with the bible, but how much does one need to read to understand, it's written by men, rewritten by men, and again revised by men. Why is it so hard to understand that God loved and loves all: black, white, yellow, democrat, republican, Christian, Jew, Muslim, gay, straight, etc. etc. Just maybe we are all ONE along with cardinals, butterflies, horses, cows, etc. Why always groups? One group doesn't care for what another group says or does, on and on. That is what I read in the first part of this book, and I am so tired of groups.
When Ms. Bogle wrote of her partner's cancer and how much it affected them both. That's when I got into the story. That's when I saw the true writer come out. I felt her pain and sorrow with her. With both of them. I felt the tears that she shed. To me the important part of this book was the, compassion, understanding, pain of losing a partner in life. You give your all to that one person and they up and leave for heaven. What a nice thing to do.
The book made me think of gays. How they feel they have a hard time living life. Doesn't everyone? I've met gay people and find it's always about them, and nobody else. Why the crazy dress in parades, the `This is me' statement? Does the homeless person on the street corner get this much publicity? I find there is too too much on gay. Why do they need to publicize? If `they' lived with everyone, wherever they want, and did whatever they want, `not exhibit', I think most people would honor them.
The author writes with feeling and her love of God, but quotes the bible too much for me. To me, God is Love, and where you have that you need nothing else. Just my thoughts

An Amazing Story May 28, 2007 The amazing and true story of one of the leaders of the 'ex-gay' movement. Darlene's story is one that will touch you while imparting courage, hope and strength. Highly recommended for anyone who is struggling reconciling their faith with their sexual orientation.

A Christian Lesbian Journey: A Continuation of Long Road to Love May 12, 2007 The author is a longtime friend and past coworker from the 1970's. Her book fortifies my belief in God . . . that He truly loves us ALL, no matter what your color, creed or sexual preferences.

Wonderful, warm, willing to be told -- true story. Mar 24, 2007 I know Darlene and knew Des; love them both. Now getting to know Becky too. This is a true story which needed to be told. These women are wonderful and warm, and I hope you will get to know them through reading this book. Darlene is a gifted writer who is able to tell this story in a way that is easy and enjoyable to read.
