angelic pawns in a human tragedy Jan 20, 2008 I think this a great first novel! Having an experience in my childhood some described as an angelic encounter I have been fascinated with how people view or interpret an angelic realm. Lee Schulstad presented some new angles to angels and I appreciate that. I am intrigued by the idea that the best angel for a particular job just might be the most inept angel. Could the same ever hold true for a surgeon?
Her thoughts on God's intervention in the flow of human time gave me pause to think as well. Eventually flowing water looks as if the finger made no impact no the analogy lacks something yet I still find myself thinking about it weeks after finishing the book. Schulstad is spiritual without being religious, perceptive without being preachy, and doesn't answer all of the questions alluded to in the story. Perhaps a prelude to her next writing which I look forward to.

The Finger in the Water Dec 19, 2007 I read this wonderful book a few weeks ago, shared it with a friend who is a published writer then bought a few for gifts. Did I like the book? YES! It made a great literary impact on me both emotionally and spiritually as it opened my mind and heart in a profound way. I was fascinated with many lines the author wrote marveling at the genius way she put words together. I was not ready to finish the book due to the fact that I did not want to lose contact with the book's characters. I want more of Lee Schulstads writing so will patiently wait for her next novel.
A Wonderful First Novel Filled With Many What Ifs? Dec 15, 2007 I had the great pleasure of reading this book just after it was released a month or so ago. I was fascinated by the concept of what would happen if an angel fell to earth, was nearly run over some women trying to escape her "not so terrible" life, and was invited to go along on the ride because she thought he was some kind of monk. Would she fall in love with him anyway? Would he fall in love with her? Can Angels fall in love? Is this the true definition of unrequited love? These were certainly not concepts I have ever thought about before reading this book, but I certainly have since. I love that this is a book about real beings (whether Angelic or not) and what they do when faced with looking within to make some tough decisions about what they want and what they are willing to do to get it. Whether you are a spiritual person or just like the idea of an unusual plot line, this is a great book to read. It's fun, well written and definitely pushes you to finding out what will happen at the end. I wanted to cheat but I didn't. I was sad when it was over but I get the feeling this author will be writing something else soon equally provocative. Great first book!!!
