5Make a Difference  Apr 20, 2007
Wouldn't it be great if people quit doing wrong, quit contemplating war, or quit being cruel to those who are less fortunate. Wouldn't it be great if a message could be addressed to the world that would cause everyone to be hopeful? There may be a way that this could happen. It could make a heaven on earth, if only for a small moment.
Once a close friend of mine had a blockage of the corroded artery in his brain. He was in a comatose condition for most of one day. The doctors told us that he would not live much longer. And that his brain cells were dying. Several of us who cared about this man, decided that we would fast and pray for him that same day. We knew that miracles happen when individuals pray and fast. In this incidence about one hundred friends and family fasted and prayed. It was at this time that the x-rays showed that a flap of skin inside the damaged artery was opening up for brief periods and allowing blood flow to the blood-starved cells of his brain. This was occurring just often enough that his brain did not die. He continued to remain stable. The next day, the doctors scanned his brain again. In addition to the plugged artery, there was a new artery. It had never shown up on the previous brain scans, but now suddenly it had appeared out of nowhere. Doctors said that it could be that a smaller artery had become enlarged. The smaller artery that they were referring to was considerably smaller. This new artery was three times longer and three times the diameter of what the smaller artery had been. Therefore, for that small artery to grow that fast overnight would be impossible even with the most severe stretching. One doctor said, "I know what has happened. I have heard about all those people fasting and praying for this man. This man has been saved by a miracle and there is no other way to explain it.
In another incident, a group of people fasted for my sister and her frozen foot. My sister was born with a spinal deformity and had had over 17 operations. This left all her nerves cut and her foot was without feeling. In high school she had attended a winter outing with her friends and had not known that her foot was being frozen. When she got home, we took her shoe off and it looked like her foot had been burnt, but in reality it had been frozen.
When the doctors came in to prepare the foot for amputation, they began to peel away the dead skin to determine just where they would amputate. They continued to remove bits of dead skin moving down her leg toward the bottom of her foot. Miraculously, there was new skin under the dead skin in every place they probed. They scanned the foot and found that the foot was indeed alive. Again, none of those familiar with the case, could understand how or what had happened; only that a miracle had occurred. Family and friends fasted and prayed for her and once again, there was a miraculous occurrence.
In another instance, I had a close friend, who while in his junior high years was diagnosed with Hotchkins disease and was told that he had only a few months to live. A group of people, who were family and friends, decided to hold a fast and to participate in prayer on behalf of this young man. He recovered, played center on the local high school basketball team and is alive to this day. Once again the doctors had done their tests and declared that they had solid proof that the boy would not live, but thanks to fasting and prayer he did live.
I believe that miraculous events occur all the time. Many people that I have talked to, have had miraculous experiences, or have had prayers answered. God does not let efforts of faith and prayer go unanswered, if we will but ask believingly. The simple requirement is that people must demonstrate belief. There are other benefits for fasting and prayer, but it begins with true belief.
In ancient times, those who fasted, gave offerings or money that was derived from the money saved by not eating. They gave this money to help the poor and needy. This indicates that fasting has an element of sacrifice for others. First we fast for the benefit of someone else. Then we pray for that individual and lastly, we give the money that would have went toward purchasing food, to those who are less fortunate.
It has occurred to me through my living among the Chinese, that the Budhist religion has included the practice of fasting. Gandhi fasted for the people of India who were Moslem, Hindu, and Christians to bring peace and freedom. In the Americas and Europe, Christians have an understanding of the concept of fasting. Most of the people of the Middle East know about fasting. It seems that most of the people of the world at one time or another, have believed in the power of fasting. If so many peoples are aware of the power of fasting combined with prayer, then why not use it as an activity to unite the whole earth. Why not have a good cause, where we commit ourselves to the betterment of mankind. It is a noble to want to champion a grand cause; to sacrifice for the betterment of others, and to make the world better. It is with this understanding that I put forth this proposal: "That on Dec 1 2007, that all people world wide, should join together in fasting and prayer." If those with leadership roles, would exert effort for this cause, then they might help to bring about a miracle. Perhaps for one day, there would be no murders, no one killed in war, no one robbed, no one starved, no one raped, no one turned away from hospitals, no death-sentence executed, no suicides, no one removed from their home and no one treated any different than we would treat God himself.
I know that in the USA alone, statistics show that there is an average of one rape per minute. That would mean that this event of fasting and prayer would prevent 1440 rapes. World wide it would mean thousands of less rape victims. How many people are murdered each day? How many crimes occur each day? How many lies are told each day? How many parents and children are dishonored? If all of these clamities could be prevented for just one day, wouldn't that day be one of the most wonderful days ever.
If the people of the earth, could fast and pray for one day, that all tribulations might cease, wouldn't that be a miracle in and of itself. Of course along with that goal would be the unwritten goal of living well on that day, of caring for our fellow humans, that we might for one day think about God. Then there would be less broken hearts and less sadness and less catastrophes. There would be less evil, starvation, hunger, rape, murder, lying, steeling and selfishness.
Would this be a bad thing? I think that almost anyone with any thread of humanity in them would agree that it would be a most wonderful happening. I would ask that for the sake of the world, that all would not resist this effort for one day. I would say that doing so might help you to know that God is at the helm and he does accepts an earnest heart.
Please all you religious leaders, politicians, Boy Scout leaders, Government officials, family organizations, schools, city governments, civic clubs, administrators and any organization that cares about the world and its people, organize your resources toward a world wide effort of fasting and prayer. Imagine how it would feel if every country in the world fasted and prayed for the betterment of the world. Perhaps God would perform a miracle that all could witness worldwide. Perhaps it would simply be a feeling of brotherly love. Perhaps it would be something that would let all people know that we can have love across boundaries, creeds, race and religion. On the down side, what bad could come from people fasting so that they could give to the poor.
I would be bold enough to say, that if we were to conduct a worldwide day of prayer and fasting, then our Creator would manifest his hand and pour out a blessing upon the earth. It might be that no ships would sink, or that no planes would crash. It might be that no terrorist efforts would be perpetrated. It might be that people everywhere would be healed of their infirmities. I might be that a new star would shine far brighter than all the rest. Whatever it would or could be, wouldn't it be nice if all mankind could know that there is a supreme being at the helm. If this were to happen, men, women and children everywhere might live their lives differently. Perhaps we could make the world a better place.
So what say ye, all you leaders, presidents, kings, governors, media and clergymen. Do you or are you willing to lead out? Who will help with this cause? Who will stand up and be counted? All have been summoned. I implore you to take this day of fasting and prayer on as a project and promote it worldwide. For the sake of all people, show that you believe. Please move forward with this cause.

Most Sincerely

1Poorly Written  Jan 03, 2007
This book is poorly written. Punctuation is lacking. Word usage problems abound. The dialog is very forced. This self published author should have hired a qualified editor prior to sending the book to the printer. I was unable to get past the grammatical errors to see the story that may be hidden beneath.

5A Day In Search of the Straight and Narrow  Jul 14, 2006
A Day In Search Of The Strait and Narrow

Wouldn't it be great if a person could start a movement that would cause people to quit doing things that are wrong, quit contemplating war, or quit being cruel to those who are less fortunate. Wouldn't it be great if a message could be addressed to the world that would cause everyone to be hopeful and joyful. This is your chance. This is a project that could do all of what I have just mentioned, if only for a brief instance. It could truly make a heaven on earth, if only for a small moment.
I remember that once in my life when a close friend of mine had a blockage of his corroded artery in the brain. He was in a comatose condition for most of one day. The doctors told us that he would not live much longer. We were told that without blood to his brain his brain cells would die. Several of us who cared about this man, decided that we would fast and pray for him. We knew that there is power in the prayers of one individual, but when a group of several individuals pray and fast for a cause other than for themselves, then a miracle can occur. In this incidence about one hundred friends and family fasted and prayed. It was at this time that the x-rays showed that a flap of skin inside the damaged artery was opening up for brief periods and allowing blood flow to the starved cells of his brain. This was occurring just often enough that his brain did not die. He continued to remain stable. All through the next day, this man began to recover. In the afternoon of the next day when the man seemed to be back to his normal self, the doctors scanned his brain again. In addition to the plugged artery was a new artery. It had never shown up on the previous brain scans, but now suddenly there it was. It had appeared out of nowhere. Doctors said that it could be that another smaller artery had become enlarged. They continued to remove bits of dead skin moving down her leg toward the bottom of her foot. Miraculously, there was new skin under the dead skin in every place they probed. They used their medical testing to analyze the inside of the foot and found that the foot was indeed alive. Again, none of those closely familiar with the case could understand how or what had happened; only that a miracle had occurred. Family and friends had fasted and prayed for her. Once again, fasting and prayer were both part of a miraculous occurrence.
In another instance I had a close friend, who while in his junior high years had been diagnosed with Hotchkins disease. He was told that he had only a few months to live. A group of people in that rural farm community who were family and friends, decided to hold a fast and to participate in prayer on behalf of this young man. He recovered, played center on the local high school basketball team and is alive to this day. Once again the doctors had done their tests and declared that they had solid proof that the boy would not live, but thanks to fasting and prayer he did live.

I believe that there are other miraculous events that take place all the time. Many people that I have talked to, have had miraculous experiences in their lives, or have had prayers answered. God does not let such manifestations go unexecuted, if we will but ask and believe. This is what is required; people who fast and pray are demonstrating that they believe. Why else would people fast and pray. There are other beneficial reasons for fasting and for prayer, but showing that we believe has to be a big part of why miracles occur.
In ancient times, those who fasted gave offerings or money that was derived from the money saved by not eating. They gave this money to the poor and needy. This indicates that fasting has attached to it, an act of sacrifice for others. First we fast for the benefit of someone else. Then we pray for that individual and lastly, we give the money that would have went toward purchasing food, to those who are less fortunate.
It has dawned on me that through my living among the Chinese, that the Budhist religion includes the practice of fasting. Though not practiced as often as it once was, it is still part of the religion. Gandhi fasted for the people of India who were Moslem, Hindu, and Christians to bring peace and freedom. It seems that most of the people of the world at one time or another, believed in the power of fasting. If so many peoples are aware of fasting and prayer then why not use it as a common activity that the whole earth can do together. Why not do something together as part of the family of man. Why not have a good cause, where we commit ourselves to stand forth for the betterment of mankind. It is a natural desire deep within most human souls to want to champion a noble cause. To be willing to sacrifice for the betterment of others is how the world becomes better. It is with this understanding that I put forth the proposal to whom so ever should read this. That on April 6th 2007, that all mankind world wide, should join together in fasting and prayer. This would be for the betterment of mankind. The purpose might include the idea that for one day, there would be no murders, no one killed in war, no one robbed, no one starved, no one raped, no one refused from the hospitals, no one executed under a death sentence, no one committing suicide, no one removed from their home and no one treated any different than we would treat God himself.
I know that in the USA alone, statistics show that there is an average of one rape per minute. That would mean that this event of fasting and prayer would prevent 1440 rapes. World wide it would probably mean hundreds of thousands of less rape victims. How many people are murdered each day around the world for money, power, or control of resources? How many people participate in crimes each day? How many lies are told each day? How many parents and children are dishonored? If all of these kinds of occurrences could be avoided for just one day, that would make that day a most wonderful day.
If all, most, or just a few people of the earth, could for one day, strive to fast and pray, that all these tribulations might be abated on that day, wouldn't that be a miracle in and of itself. Of course along with that goal would be the unwritten goal of living well on that day, of caring for our fellow humans, that we might for one day think about God. Then there would be less broken hearts and less sadness. There would be less evil perpetrated on us. Less starvation, hunger, rape, murder, lying, steeling and selfishness.
Would this kind of phenomenon be a bad thing? I think that almost anyone with any thread of humanity in them would agree that it would be a most wonderful happening.. Nevertheless, there may be some who will call good evil and evil good as it is written. There are those who believe that there is no God. There will be those who say that God does not accept this kind of a fast or that it is not the proper way to fast. For those who are inclined in this direction, I would ask that for the sake of those who do have a surety that we are being watched over by a God, please do not resist this effort for one day. I would say that doing so might help you to know that God accepts an earnest heart. I even ask that you participate if you have the health to do so, because doing so is not going to have any ill consequences for you.
I would call upon politicians, church leaders, Scout leaders, Family organizations, schools, city governments, civic clubs, administrations and any organization that cares about the world and its people, to organize their resources toward a world wide effort of fasting and prayer. Would it hurt anything for people to pray for Love to abide here upon the earth. For those who have pressed for prayer to be outlawed in school, would they really be so harsh as to think that such an event as a worldwide prayer also be banned. If so then it must be because they do not have a surety of the reality of our Creator.
I would be bold enough to say, that were we to conduct a worldwide day of prayer and fasting, then our Creator would manifest his hand. It might be that no ships would sink or that no planes would crash. It might be that no terrorist efforts would be perpetrated. It might be that people everywhere would be healed of their infirmities. I might be that a new star will shine far brighter than all the rest. Whatever it would or could be, wouldn't it be nice if all mankind could know that there is a supreme bding at the helm. If this were to happen, men, women and children everywhere might live their lives differently. If all were to realize that this earth life is only temporary and that life to come is forever, then we might be more inclined to live as instructed in the teachings of all the great leaders of the earth. We just might make the world a better place.

5A Glimpse of Hope for us all   Jul 01, 2006
I have always believed that we are being watched over. This book has caused me to realize how often all of us on earth are helped, influenced and protected. It describes events that stimulate the reader into recognizing that he is being aided in his life. It helps the reader know through skillfully told events just how hard it can be to forgive someone and why it is so important to do so. This book has really inspired me and caused me to think about life through a whole new perspective

I support the plea on this web site as follows:

A close friend of mine had a blockage of his corroded artery in the brain. He was in a comatose condition for most of one day. The doctors told us that he would not live much longer. They said that without blood his brain cells would die. Several of us who cared about this man, decided that we would fast and pray for him. It was at this time that the x-rays showed that a flap of skin inside the damaged artery was opening up for brief periods and allowing blood to flow to the starved cells of the brain. This was occurring just often enough that this man's brain did not die. He continued to remain stable. All through the next day, this man began to recover. In another incident, a group of people fasted for my sister and her frozen foot. My sister was born with a spinal deformity and had had over 17 operations. This left the nerves in her foot cut and without feeling. She had attended a winter outing with her friends and had not known that her foot was being froze. When she got home, we took her shoe off and it looked like her foot had been burnt, but instead, had been frozen. The doctors had examined the foot and had declared that it was dead.
A day or so later, when the surgeon came to prepare the foot for amputation, he began to peel away the dead skin to determine just where they would amputate. They continued to remove bits of dead skin moving down her leg toward her foot.
In another instance I had a close friend, who while in his junior high years had been diagnosed with Hotchkin's disease. He was told that he had only a few months to live. A group of people in that rural farm community who were family and friends, decided to fast and to participate in prayer on behalf of this young man. He recovered, played center on the local high school basketball team and is alive to this day. The doctors had done their tests and declared solid proof that the boy would not live, but thanks to fasting and prayer he did live. God wants to see that we are willing to go beyond lip service. He wants to see that our hearts are genuine in seeking his help. I fear that too many will fulfill the following prophecies.

Isaiah 29: 13
13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me...

Ezekiel 31: 31
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear the words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after covetousness.

These two versus explain why fasting and prayer are so important. It is nice to read the scriptures, to share the word with others and to attend all the spiritual meetings that you can. However, to have your heart close to God, you must be willing to do more than just talk. There is something about fasting, when it is begun with a solemn and sincere prayer and when it is dedicated for a reason other than for ourselves, that causes us to draw close to God with more than just our lips. We can't just speak good things and enter the Kingdom of Heaven. However, fasting and prayer require you to perform an action. It is the action of dedicating your heart toward the concern of others and to God. Fasting for someone else requires you to have your heart directed toward them in offering a plea to God for them. It is a true act of charity to direct your heart to God for at least a day of fasting, and to ask for blessings upon someone in need. Fasting causes a change of heart. Therefore if you have read this far and you are not willing to take physical action such as prayer and fasting, then you are fulfilling the above prophecies.
I believe that there are miraculous events that take place all the time. Many people have had miraculous experiences, or have had prayers answered. God does not let such sincere requests go unrewarded, if we will but ask and believe. When there is sacrificing, it shows earnestness. When people forget themselves and pray for others, then miracles occur.
In ancient times, those who fasted gave offerings or money that was derived from the money saved by not eating. They gave this money to the poor and needy. This indicates that fasting has attached to it, an act of sacrifice for others. First we fast for the benefit of someone other than ourselves. Then we pray for that individual and lastly, we give the money that would have went toward purchasing food, to those who are less fortunate.
As a young man I lived among the Chinese of Taiwan. I learned that the Buddhist religion includes the practice of fasting. Though not practiced often, it is still part of the religion. Gandhi fasted for the people of India who were Moslem, Hindu, and Christians to bring peace and freedom, and it happened. In the Americas and Europe, where there is an influence of Christianity, there is an understanding of the concept of fasting and the miracles that can occur. Lastly, most of the people of the Middle East have learned about fasting. It seems that most of the people of the world at one time or another, believed in the power of fasting. If so many peoples are aware of fasting and prayer then why not use it as a common activity that the whole earth can participate in. Why not do something together as members of the family of man. Why not have a good cause, where we commit ourselves no matter what the cost, to stand forth for the betterment of mankind.
It is a natural desire deep within most human souls to want to champion a noble cause; to be willing to sacrifice for the betterment of others. It is with this understanding that I put forth this proposal to whom-so-ever should read this, that every month on the first Sunday that all mankind world wide, should join together in fasting and prayer. This would be for the betterment of mankind, that for one day, there would be no murders, no one killed in war, no one robbed, no one starved, no one raped, no one refused from the hospitals, no one executed under a death sentence, no one committing suicide, no one kicked out of their home under foreclosure, and no one treated any different than we would treat God himself.
In the USA alone, statistics show that there is an average of one rape per minute. That would mean that this event of fasting and prayer might prevent 1440 rapes in the USA in just one day of fasting. World wide it would probably mean hundreds of thousands of less rape victims. How many parents and children are dishonored? If all of these occurrences could be avoided for just one day, that would be one wonderful day.
If just a vast few people on earth, could for one day, fast and pray, that all these tribulations might be abated, wouldn't it be a miracle in and of itself. Of course along with that goal would be the unwritten goal of living well on that day, of caring for our fellow humans, that we might for one day think about God.
