A Higher Ambition: Bay Area Women Fight for Suffrage

Bay Area women fought vigorously for suffrage from 1870 to the passage of the nineteenth amendment in 1920. During this time suffragists waged two state campaigns, made numerous trips to the California legislature, aided individual states, and lobbied for a national amendment.
