Disappointed in Seattle Nov 20, 2009 I had seen an interview with Retha McPherson explaining how her son had been in a traumatic accident and in his recovery process, had gone to heaven, and received messages from God. Fascinated, I purchased the book but while reading it, the preponderance of information was from Retha, not her son, Aldo, who had actually experienced the trauma. I was disappointed that she chose to speak totally from her perspective, rather than her son's, who actually had the experience.
The book, 'A message from God' Nov 20, 2009 I saw Retha McPherson on a Christian talk show which led me to order the book. I am glad Aldo has made such tremendous progress and I admire Retha's faith and that she chose to 'speak words of life' over him. However, I was disappointed in the book because the more I read the more I was convinced that a lot of 'wishful' thinking, rather than reality, was contained in it. It was very repetitious and elementary.
Of course I understand Retha is grateful that her child is alive and therefore to her every moment of his life and his progress is a miracle.
With that, I agree!
A BOOK TO READ OVER AND OVER AGAIN Nov 11, 2009 I read this book in two days. It was beautifully written. The word of God within its pages vital and the KEY of FOCUS clearly given. It is the ONLY book both my husband and I have read together. We were touched by the story and style of writing. May God bless the McPherson family. I learned of this book, having watched the interview
[...] but the BOOK is an essential read for any Christian. There is a lot of substance to the book definitely God-breathed.

A book to change lives - and that is what God wants Oct 25, 2009 I have read several books in the recent past that are all shining a spotlight in the same place. That beacon is aimed heavenward toward the son of God. The Holy Spirit is moving in a powerful way across the earth to call the children of God to where they need to be - under the shadow of the Almighty. This is not a book of clever witticisms and profound human wisdom. This is a book of simple truths. There are words directly from the mouth of God here. One example that struck me directly in the solar plexus as a wannabe intellectual studier of the word and of life is "Stop all your clever arguments, your logical disputes. Faith starts where logic ends. And then miracles follow.
I am trying to let my spirit man dominate my soul man, who wants to be like Mr. Spock and subsist on logic alone. This book has helped me in that struggle. Retha came to a point in her life where logic was insufficient. I pray that I can vicariously learn the lessons she has absorbed from living through a traumatic experience that had brought much pain into her life. My prayer is that I will surrender everything to the King of Kings so that He might use me as Retha and Aldo have been used - to show people that intimacy with God is not only possible but necessary for true fulfillment. This is a book that will stretch many believers. I needed to let God out of the box I put Him in and be stretched. I urge you to let Him expand your tentpegs. As Aldo writes several times, Jesus is coming soon. The bride must be ready. And I don't want to be one of the five foolish virgins who neglected to prepare themselves in advance. I can't summon up the words sufficient to match the urgency that I feel in recommending that you read this book - but more importantly that you lay aside your pride and give it all to Jesus. I challenge you to read this book as a child and not as a sophisticated adult puffed up with pride over your prowess in deciphering the secrets of life. I have written many novels that I hoped would turn people to the Lord and cause them to walk upright before Him. I see now that my books pale in comparison with this true story of the power of the living God.

Great reading! Amazing Life! May 11, 2009 This was a great book and once you pick it up, you can't put it down. Another book to check out is 'Tales of the Hen House Preacher.' It is a great book that was very enjoyable.
