Wonderful Interactive Text with Rhymes and Rhythm! Jul 03, 2009

"Peeper in My Pocket" is a wonderful interactive text with engaging rhymes and rhythm. It's a perfectly fun read aloud for preschool and primary-age children and an excellent mentor text for writing ABC books for elementary-age children. Additionally, the text supports vocabulary development for the very young as the child searches for the lovable Peeper characters and describes their action or location. The text includes a reiteration of the entire rhyme on a page at the end. I could see a child practice alphabet recognition on that page while recalling initial consonant words to match. I will keep this book on my shelf next to other books which support phonological awareness! What a delight!

This book was fun to read with my kids. The Peepers are adorable and rhyme in funny ways. By the end of our first read, my kids and I had each had chosen a different favorite Peeper (mine's Tweet). The illustrations are eye-catching with cool colors. This Peeper is a Keeper!

My girls (6, 4 and 15 mo) thoroughly enjoyed this book. They loved trying to decide which peeper was their favorite and ended up choosing them all! The pictures are colorful and crazy. I recommend this book for anyone who is working with a child on letter recognition, rhyming or reading.

I recently bought the Peeper's book for our neighbor's daughter. When I saw and read the Peeper's book, I realized that a hugh smile had spread across my face!This is indeed a book for Grandmothers to read and enjoy with their grandchildren-from toddlers to first graders. Oh what a thrill to see them enjoy the vivid colors and increase their learning experience with the rhymes and sayings. And you-yourself enlarging each picture with a story of your own "What kind of a friend is the Peeper looking for?" or "can you count to ten?" Grandparents and children alike can really have fun with this book together!

I can't wait to read this book to my kids class! The words just flow as you read the story aloud making it fun to read. The rhyming makes it easy to change voices and involve the kids in the story. My children love the Peepers and think they are adorable. I can tell Peepers will be a family favorite for years to come!!!
