A Soft Shoe

An adventurous young Randle has survived the 9.6 Alaska earth-quake of 1964, a bear attach and almost drowning in the Frasier River while being shot at by Canadian Mounties and a dysfunctional family, but there are scarier things in Alaska than bears and violence; a part of Alaska you won't find in a travel brochure or see form a cruise ship. In his own words and with lots of gallows humor Randle shares his decent and ultimately the miracle of recovery. Along the way Randle introduces us to a plethora of unique characters from dog musher's to Alaskan bikers, Psychiatrists and Ministers, bears, moose and a mean dog who later turns out to be his best friend are just a few examples. Without being morose or maudlin, Randle shares his tragedies as well as his triumphs as he begins to build a new life with help from some almost unbelievable sources. A Soft Shoe will inspire anyone who is having difficulties.

5Putting your demons to rest  Mar 27, 2008
By Nancy and Brenda
I came across this book by way of a co-worker and recommended it to my daughter. Both of us found this story to be engaging, hopeful, and insipring. This book is about putting the demons to rest that are challenging your successes in life. Randle had us fighting for him, angry at him, and loving him all at the same time. The greatest thing was reading along and knowing what he meant (alaskans have there own language, LOL) where he was, and what it looked like because his setting takes place in our home state of ALASKA.
Our take away from this book is that if you have the will to survive you can beat anything, and Randle, your strenght is an insipration, thank you for sharing this and A Soft Shoe with us. Wishing you continued success in all things.

5Hard to put the book down  Nov 26, 2007
By Debbie Mcbride
This is an incredible story of survival; a journey through the depths of powerlessness and despair, and into light and life. Randle's story shows that no one has to be without hope.

5Great story  Nov 24, 2007
By M. Gauthier
I read this book twice and then purchased a copy for my mother to read. Randle shows great strength of character to have survived his life to adulthood. Randle's story will inspire and encourage you.
