Great Tribute, Great Tool! Nov 09, 2007 The title of this review, for me, says it all. This book really captures the life of a special human being learning and living with ADD. The tool aspect of the review can be used many ways. Simply put, this is not a saw or mallet, but instead a human hand or even a brain. It is written in the 1st person, but has a 3rd person account of this interesting mind and person. Also, a great step in helping our society to explore and hopefully someday, fully understand this different way of thinking and being. I especially hope that this book makes it into the hands of many parents and teachers. With more of this large picture we can avoid ignorantly assuming someone does or does not have ADD, or any other deviation from the standard in thinking, based on the default symptoms. Close to all literature discussing ADD comes in the form of self-help books. These are great for specific salutions, but sometimes can also work as a quick fix. Without more material like "A Son's Gift: A Son's Journey with ADD", we will continue to only scratch the surface of understanding ADD.
