A Summer in Sicily

Take a famous, but stressed, woman--abstract painter from Washington DC; an infatuated sculptor from NY with a beautiful, not so dumb, model. Add a stingy, but elegant professor; a gallery owner with an adolescent daughter and an alcoholic ex-wife and put all these Americans in a small town one summer in Sicily. Not forgetting either: a bureaucrat from Rome; a crack Sicilian photographer; an Italian sculptor, his workshop and his family; helpful neighbors and even an English racetrack driver and four Sicilian students on vacation with time on their hands---and there you have the cast of this amusing and intriguing story.

5A fun read!  Sep 08, 2008
This was a great book. Lots of insight into the world of artists, their creations and inspirations and the people that surround them. The characters were compelling, the story was interesting. I totally recommend this book!

5Cozy Enticing Italian Novel  May 23, 2008
I truly savored this book like a wonderful delicacy. The compassionate
development of the characters, the stimulating setting and artistic theme
came together for a thoroughly delightful story. I did not want it to end
and could not put it down with the unexpected twists and hoped for turns.
This will be one of my few keepers to read again and again.

Summer in Sicily is a great read! This book is a fascinating page turner. I loved the Sicilian scene and the characters as they develop in this artistic and exciting setting. I couldn't put it down!

4Artistic Fun and Suspense in Sicily  Jan 30, 2007
This small novel has been a captivating reminder, as if I needed one, of the ever changing pleasures -- and challenges too -- for an expat living in Italy. I also learned a great deal about how painters and sculptors and the art market interact at home and abroad. When a totally unexpected event (not to give it away) came about, A SUMMER IN SICILY became a "page turner" that I could not put down until the last page. The characters -- Americans, Sicilians, British, and French -- seemed so belivable that they deserve a sequel by author G. C. Dallas. She certainly knows the environment in which to locate it.
