A -Z Teaching Reading 101: The Alphabet

A-Z Teaching Reading 101: The Alphabet is a reading program that teaches children how to read by 2 1/2 years old! Where most reading programs are just beginning to think about teaching reading starting between the ages of three to five, this program starts at birth. So our babies are able to enjoy the pursuit of and the fruits of early reading. Reading provides children comfort and joy both with their parents and while playing quietly. As Alden puts it: 'Reading is a fun and magical experience that no child should have to be without!'

1Overpriced and disappointing  May 17, 2008
I can't believe I received the same book other customers were so happy about. The book is disappointing.
First of all, it's a 60-pages long softcover book. How are you going to read it over and over again (like suggested) to a baby or a toddler? I expected it to be at least a board book. And that's what you get for $25???
Also, the "method" itself is just a common sense suggestions. The description fits in just a few pages. The rest of a book is filled with nice bold pictures with a new letter on each page. But most of alphabet books will offer you this type of service:-) The authors mention several times the necessity for you to buy their other book:-) Nice:-)
There is just nothing new in what this book is trying to provide.
The suggestions on verbal praise and patting child's back every time he recognizes a letter are just plain silly.
My advise is - read a lot of books to your child, and spend a lot of time together without this strange goal of teaching him (or her) to read at very early age. When you read a lot, the child learns naturally how to read. You don't need to "train" him to remember letters. It's really wrong.
But it's just my own opinion. I hope, it will be helpful to somebody...
I am sending this book back to Amazon.

5The Best Part Is The Fun We Had Together  Mar 25, 2008
This is my 3rd child and this book has helped me to teach him his letters as well as his reading. The best part is the fun we had together.

5I loved watching this work in person!!!!  Sep 27, 2007
Wow! This book worked right before my eyes! I am a good friend of Katherine and her family and I got to watch Tyler enjoy learning to read. The pictures remind me of Dr. Seuss type pictures and Tyler seems to really enjoy them. He is only 2 1/2 and what fun he has reading.
I highly recommend this book and hope she creates more products. All children deserve to benefit as easily as her children have from her teaching methods.

5Bring Print media back into Fashion  Jul 23, 2007
Being a Techie, It is close to a Decade since I lost touch with Print media, preferring the "worldwide crawlie web". This book brings me back to the real world of learning through the good ole way of books. Once you start there is enough in this book to keep you riveted and focussed on how easy it is to work with your kids from a really young age. Katherine literally lives by and proves the adage of "Catch them young and watch them grow". Good show Lady, and hope this inspires more moms to follow your steps; Your sons will be Intelligent Young men soon and will be very appreciative of the fact that you spent your time to help them and share the "secrets" with the world !

5For kids and parents alike  Jul 21, 2007
The letter pages are bright and easily read. A book for toddlers and adults to enjoy; it bridges the gap between learning and fun!
