It's never too early to start the basics of literacy Nov 07, 2008 It's never too early to start the basics of literacy. "A-Z Teaching Reading 101: The Alphabet" is a simple children's picture book designed to be read alongside by both parent and child to give children the very fundamentals of education. Each letter is accompanied by an example sentence and a full color photograph of an object or situation featuring the letter. "A-Z Teaching Reading 101" is a great choice for any parent looking to give their tyke a head start in literacy.
not worth the money Sep 18, 2008 When I received this book, I was quite disappointed. I had expected to find some new insights. Instead, there were a few pages of suggestions and the rest of the book was filled with pictures. The pictures were poor quality themselves. You can find much better pictures in an alphabet book at the store and pay at least half the price. The suggestions weren't new-common sense, really. I sent the book back to Amazon for a refund and found something else that satisfied my needs much better.
Overpriced and disappointing May 17, 2008 I can't believe I received the same book other customers were so happy about. The book is disappointing.
First of all, it's a 60-pages long softcover book. How are you going to read it over and over again (like suggested) to a baby or a toddler? I expected it to be at least a board book. And that's what you get for $25???
Also, the "method" itself is just a common sense suggestions. The description fits in just a few pages. The rest of a book is filled with nice bold pictures with a new letter on each page. But most of alphabet books will offer you this type of service:-) The authors mention several times the necessity for you to buy their other book:-) Nice:-)
There is just nothing new in what this book is trying to provide.
The suggestions on verbal praise and patting child's back every time he recognizes a letter are just plain silly.
My advise is - read a lot of books to your child, and spend a lot of time together without this strange goal of teaching him (or her) to read at very early age. When you read a lot, the child learns naturally how to read. You don't need to "train" him to remember letters. It's really wrong.
But it's just my own opinion. I hope, it will be helpful to somebody...
I am sending this book back to Amazon.
The Best Part Is The Fun We Had Together Mar 25, 2008 This is my 3rd child and this book has helped me to teach him his letters as well as his reading. The best part is the fun we had together.

I loved watching this work in person!!!! Sep 27, 2007 Wow! This book worked right before my eyes! I am a good friend of Katherine and her family and I got to watch Tyler enjoy learning to read. The pictures remind me of Dr. Seuss type pictures and Tyler seems to really enjoy them. He is only 2 1/2 and what fun he has reading.
I highly recommend this book and hope she creates more products. All children deserve to benefit as easily as her children have from her teaching methods.
