Well someone has no clothes here! Dec 10, 2006
By IA The author has no clue how to interpret scripture. He takes at face value only the modern English Bible and has no understanding of the glorious depth and truth of some scripture passages, like the one he makes an example of, John 14:6. Clearly this person has been burnt by the Church, but instead of receiving healing he lashes out and points an accusing finger at the Church. And we both know who's job description that is don't we! Sorry that I have to give it one Star, Amazon has no option for negative stars let alone zero.

Great education in how not to study the Bible Jul 08, 2004
I got this book on a whim to see what the justification for the author's viewpoint was and found that there was none. His use of scripture and his interpretation of it is based on English translation that often does not represent the meaning in the original. His parallels are poorly derived and his understanding of the Bible is questionable. He makes leaps in the 'symbolic' explaination of what scripture means without any Biblical foundation or scriptural parallel (let scripture interpret scripture)--instead he does his best to explain his own viewpoint with multiple, out-of-context, poorly researched passages. The one star this gets is for entertainment only--and the fact that there is no way to give zero stars.

the emperor's new review Jan 17, 2007
By jeff reedy this is some of the worst theology i've ever read. there are glaring mistakes from the first paragraph. even the grammar and syntax is awkward, at best, and reprehensible in places.
i've got a degree in theology, have studied with Jesuits, and have worked in bookstores for years, and i would call this one of the worst theological books i've ever encountered.
i'm not saying don't read it. i'm just saying it would be a huge, and perhaps confusing, waste of time. if you want something to open your mind and think of the Bible and God and Christianity from a 'fresh angle', check out 'a new kind of christian' by brian mclaren. stay away from this rubbish if you value your time and money.
This is very inspirational !!! Aug 13, 2007
By Sylvia I find the concepts derived from this article to inspire deep thought about the origins of what is considered the truth and from whom should it come from. Never have I thought of the word "naked" in terms of being not protected by God. Marshall's definition of "naked" brings clarity to the misconception of taking things literally when it comes to the bible. The author contradicts fundamental Christian belief; one of which, he provides substantial evidence that Christ really was not a Jew. This book critically examines and questions Christian philosophy and reveals incongruities. I like that it questions the integrity of the church on behalf of those, like myself, who feel misguided and misled by them. The author has an outstanding interpretation that can change the way you view the bible on a whole and will have a catastrophic effect on Evangelism. This book is a must read and is very inspirational.

Adam & Eve Were Not Naked Sep 10, 2004
By J. Chapman
"Book Star"
This book is a MUST for anyone who considers themselves an unbiassed thinker. The author offers an amazingly thought provoking veiwpoint on a traditional tale that is usually only viewed in the literal sense. This may be a short book but the arguments put forth will definitely make you rethink and reexamine the way you read the bible and intepret the stories. You don't have to agree with the views put forth in this book but it will at least you give you some food for thought.
