Aftermath: A War of Memories

When a former military psychiatrist was recruited by the Veterans Administration to develop a program for the treatment of combat veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) he became a threat to the very hospital that needed him. The hospital administration discredited him and thereby turned their backs on the veterans who were crying out for help. The combat veterans only wanted a treatment program in which they would be understood and respected for their service to their country. 'Doc's' perseverance, outspoken candor, and quest to understand the nature of a viral disease that was killing veterans made him controversial and placed him at odds with the Centers for Disease Control and National Institutes of Health. Ultimately, the controversy jeopardized his life from elements nobody expected.
