review of All Things Feb 22, 2009
By A. Berry
"A. Berry"
All Things gives a thoughtful look into the lives of an average american family facing crisis. I found the characters likeable and interesting. It quickly draws you into the story and keeps you engaged the entire time. I am letting my teenage daughters read it now and believe it will spark some conversation between us. This story shows suffering, but offers hope in the midst of it.
A novel to make us all stop and think Dec 06, 2010
By ndavis "All Things" is a very thoughtful and soul searching novel about a life-changing event in the life of 16-year old Susanna Elder. The characters are very endearing and so easy to relate to. How Susanna and her family react to and handle the very private matter which soon becomes so public makes for a very engrossing story--right to the very end. It is so refreshing to read a story about a young teenage girl whose faith in God and love of family enable her to deal with a crisis most people never have to face. I truly enjoyed this book!
Must read book on crisis pregnancy Feb 27, 2009
By June W. Bare
"June W. Bare, writer and poet"
"All Things" is a fictional story of a very real and timeless problem... Crisis Pregnancy. Set in 1953 Pennsylvania and the North Carolina mountains, Susanna Elder learns that she must make decisions and contend with rejection and opposition. Her Christian faith sustains her, and she learns how sorrow and turmoil can be turned to joy and peace, fear can be dissipated by trusting God, hope never needs to be lost, and character wins out over circumstance.
"All Things" is a can't-put-down story, begging for a sequel. It addresses a controversial issue that never goes away..."What to do with the baby-o". Set in the historical mid-20th century, it provides an insight to a past generation, while at the same time addressing modern day issues.
