I feel as if I traveled with him Oct 30, 2007

I love travel essays, especially ones on freighter travel. W. A. Harbinson does a great job on conveying to the reader what it is like to actually travel by freighter. I felt as if I knew the crew and the Captain after the first few chapters. However, since he was on the ship 6 weeks (most freighter cruises are 80-90 days) he only described a handful of ports of call. I wish he had stopped in more places. Lastly, I think his fixation on his 60 year old prostate problems became a little grating by the middle of the book. He also cursed quite a bit, which I thought was way overboard...no pun intended. If not for these last two items, I would have rated it with 4 stars. Overall...a good read.
