Amazing Things You Don't Know About Your Own Body: Proof That Your Body is far More Wonderful Than it Looked in the Mirror This Morning

Isn’t it a wonderful thing to contemplate that as far as we can tell (and the photos are all far too fuzzy to prove otherwise) that you just may be the most intricate thing in the universe…or at least our solar system? Do you get goose bumps when you think about how two single cells could have gotten together, eventually turning into the magnificent you that you turned into…and just what is a goose bump anyway…and what are they good for? And for you anatomy fans…it is admittedly a stellar occasion if you can recall (especially during a test) that the small spaces between the nerves in the brain are called synapses, but doesn’t it add meaning to the monotony to discover that crossing those synapses, the electrical impulses that allow you to sense, and then dodge a pesky mosquito, travel through the brain at a little over 240 mph, and that this same impulse will travel 4 inches inside your head in approximately the same amount of time that it takes a car traveling at 60 mph to roll over a postage stamp stuck to the road? Yes? You’re going to love this book.

5A Must Buy for anyone interested in the human body, amazing facts, or good clean humor that you can share with your friends.  Feb 05, 2009
By Cheree Alsop
Not only is this book very informative about the human body, filled with facts brought to light in a perspective that is fresh and fun, but it is entertaining as well. We have put this book in our waiting room at our medical clinic as an enjoyable, interesting, and engaging read for both our patients and employees. I feel that this would be a good tool for teachers, students, medical professionals, and anyone wishing to further their knowledge of the human body. The tone of the book is light and easy enough for any age group to comprehend, relating in-depth facts about the human body to everyday life circumstances in order to make it more applicable to anyone's situation. I especially enjoyed the miscellaneous facts at the end of the book, and must say that the humor throughout the book is in very good taste and is highly entertaining. I would recommend this book to anyone, and will have copies available for our patients in the clinic.

This truely is an amazing book. No matter how much or how little you know about the human body this book will hold your intrest because the information in it is so unique and the author adds just enough humor to keep it light and enjoyable. I love how the author compares amazing facts about the body to relatable everyday objects around us. It truely puts into perspective the huge tasks our body is expected to carry out every single day. Anyone who is interested or wants to be interested in the human body should absolutely pick up this book!
