Practical wisdom for everyday life May 14, 2010
By Russell J. Smyth Anchors of the Soul is full of godly wisdom. In 110 pages, the author packs in a lot of practical advice on how to deal with the challenges of living in this age when everything is moving at such a fast pace.
I really like the idea of "anchors", the spiritual truths and principles that can keep us from being swept away in the currents of all that life throws at us. The world pulls our families apart, yet there are anchors we can hold on to that will help us hold our families and marriages together, and to restore relationships that are broken.
I especially appreciated the chapter on Love, Security and Significance. I think this chapter will help a lot of people think differently about how their time is spent. Also, there is a lot of interesting information about how studies have shown that security comes through the family, and how important it is to God that our families function according to his ways.
There are a lot of gold nuggets in this book. I highly recommend it. I really enjoyed reading this book and I know it is a book I will read again.
an encouragement for Christians May 12, 2010
By بيت It is written a little roughly, certainly by a real person offering the wisdom he has gained through life, education, and a walk with God. It is honest and straightforward and will challenge you in your walk with God and interactions with other people.
