History of Turkish Contemporary Arts Jul 15, 2009
By Mehmet Nejat Akar I read Arnold Reisman's new book titled `Arts in Turkey: How Ancient Became Contemporary' with great interest. He had written a very concise history of Arts from Ottoman era to Turkish Republic. This is a story of transition from traditional to contemporary. Reisman, indeed pointed an important insight to Atatürk's revolution on arts how it reached to contemporary level in a very short time. I advise this book especially to everyone, who still thinks Turkish art as oriental. Nejat AKAR

Good book on Turkey Jan 03, 2010
By Tolstoy It is with no doubt that Prof. Arnold Reisman has a deep knowledge about the evolution of modern Turkey. This can clearly be understood from his study on "Some Current Ramifications of the Alphabet Change in Turkey" which was presented in the international symposium that was organised in Suleyman Demirel University, Turkey. Neverthless, his recent book "Arts in Turkey -From Ancient to Contemporary- is a clear indication of the spread of his knowledge about Turkey that dates back to ancient times. Arts in Turkey is highly recommended to those who are interested in the evolution of the culture and arts in Anatolia at the same time. Enjoy your reading.

Professor Reisman has created another outstanding book Jun 15, 2009
By Bruce T. Batchelor
"Bruce Batchelor"
Arnold Reisman wrote a fine book about Turkish history and cultural development called "Turkey's Modernization: Refugees from Nazism and Ataturk's Vision"Turkey's Modernization: Refugees from Nazism and Ataturk's Vision. He was soon invited to lecture on this topic in Europe and the USA. His latest book is another excellent contribution to broader understanding of, and appreciation for, the culture of this region. Highly recommended.
