5Really helped me!  Feb 22, 2010
By Bic "Well, they asked for a pen name."
This book is must for people who want to write their biography or a memoir about some part of their life. I was really encouraged by the question Eubanks asks on the first page: "Would you want to read the autobiography of your great grandfather or grandmother?" Yes! Yes, I would!

The thing I struggled when I started writing my own autobiography was, What's so interesting about me? This book helped me see that--while maybe I'm not interesting to a huge readership--I'm probably interesting to my kids. And someday I'll be very interesting to my grandkids and great grandkids(Lord willing).

The book takes you through all the questions you need to ask yourself in order to record your life well. That's a big help. Even if you don't do it exactly the way the book says, it gives you a place to start. And it has lots of good recommendations on how to get the job done.

The book is fairly short. It's easy to read. It's very practical.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who's thinking of writing an autobiography, a memoir, or an oral history.

(By the way, I did complete my autobiography and helped my mother write hers--just a year before she passed away. You won't be seeing these "books" on Amazon. But they'll be on my family's shelves for a long, long time.)
