Eleanor Garvin is Incredible !! Nov 07, 2009
By Mark Seymour
"Mark Seymour"
I Love this book. Ellie and Dennis are wonderful hosts, and I have had the opportunity to taste Ellies cuisine, in person, in Burgundy. The book is long overdue and I hope the follow-up is in the offing. Bravo !
Reading this cookbook makes me want to visit France again soon. Alabama really needs a culinary goddess like Eleanor Garvin, so maybe she'd consider a trip to us.
Looking Forward to her next endeavour.

WHAT A TREAT! Oct 15, 2009
By M.J. You will enjoy hearing Eleanor's adventure and her descriptions with each recipe are truly interesting and helpful. I know first hand what a great cook Ellie is and was so excited to get her cookbook! We have tried 2 recipes so far and the simplicity of preparation and the wonderful flavors were such a pleasure. I can't wait to try more of the recipes. I also enjoyed the wine recommendations, it gives some insight into this sometimes confusing choice.

Inventive recipes with a personal touch Jan 27, 2010
By B. Irish A great book of inventive recipes which not only combine the best of local ingredients, but also offer personal insights to give the reader a real feeling of life in Burgundy and the authors' backgrounds and considerable experience in the region's food and wine.
Recipes are straightforward to follow and informative on ingredients, many with accompanying wine notes.
If you want an insider's view into Burgundy's culinary wealth beyond the clichés of Boeuf Bourguignon - this is the book.
not your everyday cookbook Jul 15, 2010
By slh I found Ellie's book to very interesting in both the story of their lives in France as well as the recipes she choose to include. The recipes are in depth and I look forward to trying them. This book lends inspiration to trying new things in life not just food!
memories of Papillon Nov 13, 2009
By dd My wife and I have enjoyed nine Papillon trips, three with other couples and nine hosting our four children and their spouses. Every one has been fabulous, providing fond memories, especially of Ellie's cooking. She is a truly extraordinary cook. The book brings wonderful memories of Papillon, but also is a wonderful cookbook and easy to follow. Now we'll not only think of Ellie and Dennis, we will be able to have her food at home. Bravo to them both.
