5Long, Strange Trip  Nov 26, 2007
When he was a child the author would look up to the stars, begging to be taken home, terrify his family by speaking in specifics of how he died in a past life and blurt out premonitions of events that soon occurred. From his coming of age as a young gay man in 1960s era Mississippi to his somewhat irreverent stint in the Catholic priesthood, to the years spent as a prominent new age figure in often-wacky Santa Fe, Robert Odom has lived a life that is anything but ordinary. The Autobiography of a Redneck Hindu carries one along on what is a sometimes euphoric and sometimes heartbreaking journey as Mr. Odom shares with humor and a refreshingly humble candor the lessons his exciting adventure has taught him along the way.

5Thought provoking and inspirational.  Sep 26, 2007
Robert Odom's book, "Autobiography of A Redneck Hindu", is a precious gem. I found great inspiration and hope reading it. It is very entertaining, and written with a great sense of humor. I have purchased 2 more books as Christmas gifts, since I cannot give my copy up! Thanks to the author for sharing his wisdom with us.

5Finally!  May 01, 2007
I first met Robert in the summer of 1992 in Sante Fe, NM. I looked through the local paper there for a spiritual reader, and encountered Robert's ad. Upon looking at his photograph, I knew he was the one. I supposed I trusted him immediately and/or sensed his realness. This has continued to be my experience of Robert over the past 15 years.

I was so glad - relieved is a better word - when Robert mentioned he was working on a book AND had someone interesting in publishing it. I was relieved that others would get to share in the experience of enlightenment that speaking with Robert or reading his words has always brought me. Without Robert's wisdom and sometimes brutal honesty, I might not be here today to honor him and his enormous achievement, The Autobiography of a Redneck Hindu.

An interesting thing happened as I was reading this book. Several concepts flew together all at once, as if magnetized: 'Seek ye first the things of Spirit (or Kingdom, or something like that) ...' Why? Because 'We are SPIRITUAL BEINGS having a human experience.' I never got that until just now. What else WOULD feed us better than spiritual things, as Spiritual Beings. No wonder all the major spiritual movements and religions advocate this ... Who knew!

5Amazing Grace  Apr 17, 2007
I became a Robert Odom fan through his column Walk Your Talk over a period of years. This book, so candid and humble, yet positive, expands into his life story and statement with what I would call amazing grace. It is a mixture of blunt honesty and playful humor which pulls you irrestibly through a journey to new viewpoints and possibilities. One of my favorite lines is: "You're free. Act like it."

5Heart Warming and Wise  Apr 11, 2007
I love the way Robert odom writes. His inviting tone makes you feel very warm, and embraced. His guidance, gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, is sharp yet delivered with the utmost humility. So many books discussing spirituality and self-growth are hard to go through. They beg for critical analysis, and the reader is left doing the work that a competent editor or thinker should have done. This book is like a comfortable sofa. You sink into the stories he relates and you don't want to put the book down. Highly recommended as both an autobiography and as a work on self-expansion.
