This is a very emotional story of a woman who went through what more woman than we realize deal with every day. It is very sad, but very very true. She shares what can really happen after the birth of a baby, the saddness, the anger, the stress, and all of the other emotions most of us are not prepared for before this long and life changing journey. Most importantly, the author makes you realize that you are not alone, and that there is help and support out there for each and every one of us.
Helpful information on Post Partum Depression Mar 26, 2009
By Danielle Dillon Natalie's story details how she faced PPD after the birth of her son Brian and the choices she made to understand PPD and move forward. PPD does not get the attention that it deserves and most women are very unprepared for all that comes with PPD. Natalie's account validates the feelings, fears and sadness that a woman experiences with PPD. Her account also demonstrates that help is available for PPD and the most important step a woman can take is to seek out that help. It can be a painful and difficult journey back to yourself, but it is worth it to make the journey to become a better person at the end of it all.
A Must Read! Mar 11, 2009
By Melissa Wojciechowski This book is outstanding. I highly recommend it to everyone. Whether you have children or don't have children or have suffered from post partum depression or you haven't, it is a must read for all women and their families.
This is a story of one young woman's experience with post partum depression. Natalie does not just tell her story she details her emotional journey. Through her words, she captures the reader by explaining what she needed to do to get back to her husband, her son and her life.
As a mom who had post partum depression, it was reassuring to know that I was not alone. It helped me to see that this is a disease that is suffered by many women all over the world and is very real and can be devastating.

This book was great!! It is amazing that the author is able to only be so open with the world but also with her son, Brian. I can't imagine the frustrations and fear she experienced. Hopefully the book will reach others who have/are going through what she went through. The facilities and the process of being treated for depression can be frightening things. Maybe knowing others have traveled this road and come out the other side can give even one peron the strength to get the support and help they may need. I think it shows such a great deal of courage for the author to have faced and dealt with her depression. And not only that but to have come out the other side so well. What an enlightening read!
Surviving Those First Months of Parenthood Jan 10, 2009

It is all too true that more women than we realize deal with Post Partum Depression every single day and many women are made to feel that it is all in their head and that they are alone in dealing with this battle. While it is difficult to know the cause of Post Partum Depression, the research is clear that it is worsened by infant crying and exhaustion. As parents of twins, we can relate first-hand to the stress associated with that of having a life changing experience of having children and the incredible amount of exhaustion that is associated with it and worsened by infant crying. We truly found The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and CD to be life changing and empowering. The techniques that Dr. Karp describes in The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD are simple and work instantly. These techniques, coupled with the use of the CD, truly calmed our children and in fact extended their sleep by hours allowing us to recover from the exhaustion that comes with having children. Our children are now 4 years old and we still use the CD when they sleep. We travel a lot and have found it extremely affective to provide our children with the familiarity and comfort of home while away in a foreign place. The affects of PPD are real and are very devastating . . .we encourage all those who are entering this new journey in life of becoming a parent to get The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and CD . . . it will change your life!
