By missybabe If you didn't catch the title it was "Rock on!" backwards.. That might be a little clever, but it's nothing compared to the brilliant idea behind this book. It seems to be a simple concept - listing words by their ending letter rather than their beginning - and in the end it probably is, but the value of having everything logically put together in a single book quickly made it a resource in my collect. To top it off there's even a handy-dandy iPhone app for kicking @ss on the fly.
Looking to bump up your scrabble game and learn some new words in the process? Then I'd highly recommend.

Good idea! Jan 03, 2012
By Anne This book takes a novel approach, listing words by their ending letters. Its simple format is a big advantage. I was surprised to find it so useful, a good investment for a casual Scrabbler.

Surprisingly handy Apr 24, 2012
By John I am an avid Scrabble player, and have been playing regularly for more than 20 years. This product gives me a unique tool for a common problem. Many times I have needed to play a high point word but couldn't find a place to put the word. This approach of using the end letter for the search makes it a lot easier. I have seen a lot of word books, but find this one much more useful than most.

Word Gamer Delight Mar 16, 2012
By Lisa J. Lickel A backwards list of words for gamers
Finally - a chance to actually compete with my husband at Scrabble®. I may be a writer who deals with language all day, but as I learned during my stint as a medical transcriptionist, there are a lot of words we don't use in general dialog or setting or story arc that are simply not that memorable. By the way, my husband is a science teacher. And he's really smart. If I'd had a dictionary like this a few years ago we might still be playing.
BackWords is made up of awesome, annotated lists of words that are excellent for word gamers. As the author explains in the introduction, if you're a gamer who doesn't consider consulting a dictionary "cheating" you'll be in heaven with this guide. Need a four-letter word ending in T and you have only another T, an E and an R to go along?
Click the letter T in the linked contents and you'll be immediately directed to the lists of words that end in T - 2 letter, 3, letter, 4, 5, all the way to seven letter words. I search through the list of four letter words that contain my remaining available letters and voila! I find TRET. But the coolest part of this electronic version is yet to come. I am an historian, and I am ashamed. For in my electronic reading device with wifi I highlight TRET and am rewarded with a definition for this lovely archaic word from the New English Dictionary. I can Google it, highlight the word in my copy, copy it, and make a note about it. I will not, however, tell you what it means here, for you must look it up yourself. But it is a really cool word.
My kids play word games - Bananagrams®, and I bought Spill and Spell® recently. The world of word gaming with our smart phones and readers and app this and that changes the playing field considerably. I say, rubbing my hands with an evil grin. Eventually I'll give copies of BackWords for Christmas gifts. After I beat their pants off first, though. Moms and Generals must always win.
Highly recommended for fun-loving competitive word-gamers, even if you don't really care what the word means; but especially for us nerdy types who approach a dictionary like a steamy romance novel.

Great Idea But Not For Kindle Jan 17, 2012
By Cindy Morin I recently have become an avid Words With Friends Player so am not yet up on all the unique words for this game. I thought this book would be so helpful I purchased it for my Kindle. I however am very dissatisfied with the Kindle Version as it does not contain the Table of Contents. It takes way too long to page through the book to get to the letter ending that you want. I did also purchase the paperback but which I had not wasted my money on the Kindle version.
