The real inside story you will never get anywhere else Dec 06, 2009
By J. P. Goodwin Very few people knew what really happened behind the scenes in the Michael Vick dogfighting case, until now. There has been speculation about the local prosecutor in Surry County who some say was on the take. There have been rumors about a secret HSUS contractor that infiltrated the dogfighting world and helped bring down Vick. There has been discussion about what motivated the federal government to step in and take over the case. Now Kathy Strouse gives you the story that you will never get from anyone else. The authors lived this case. Kathy and "Dog Angel" know this case, and they give everything from a firsthand perspective. This is the ultimate insiders "tell all" book.
I give it 5 stars and encourage everyone that followed this case, has an interesting in stopping dogfighting, or just enjoys a dramatic true crime story to buy a copy.
I couldn't put my copy down, and I finished it in a single day.

THE TRUTH THAT NEEDED TO BE TOLD! Feb 04, 2010
By G. Morton I loved this book! I have always been a fan of biographies and true life stories, a believer in the adage that truth is stranger than fiction and much more interesting. I wanted to know the truth about what happened during the most famous dog fighting case in US history, this book gave me that and more. I found this book to be not only informative and intriguing but also very educational. I had no real knowledge of dog fighting and just how disgusting this blood sport is. Please understand I am not some animal rights, PETA, Wing nut, but I am a caring decent human being who has enjoyed and cherished the love of dogs my entire life. I challenge anyone who has ever loved a dog or been loved by one to read this book and not feel anger for the despicable people involved.
Ms Strouse takes us inside of the investigation from the very first search that took place in Surry Virginia, to inside of the court room during Vicks sentencing. We get a look from the inside at just how far crooked city officials and prosecutors will go to line their own pockets and push their own agendas to help the guilty to evade justice just because of fame or wealth.
This is a story not only of villains but of true heroes who put their careers and in some cases their very lives on the line in the pursuit of justice.
This book is well written and includes great photographs of the Badd Newz Kennels and the true victims of this horrific travesty, the dogs.
Don't be afraid of this book if you are squeamish! Everything is handled very tastefully without unnecessary blood and gore.
This is simply the truth that needed to be told. This book is not about going after someone because they are wealthy of famous; this book is about doing what is right regardless of the consequences.
I must say I was touched by Ms Strouse's humanity and decency for all living creatures even Michael Vick, when she states in her book that she feels he should be allowed to play professional football again. I fear I am not as kind as she. I keep thinking of the dogs that died at his hands, and for his sick entertainment that will never get a second chance at life!
I you have ever wanted to know the truth about what happened in the Vick case this is the book you need to read.

An inside view and the heartbreaking trials of pulling down dog fighters Jun 24, 2011
By ssscott Informative and revealing beyond the hype and media. The long hard road and the heartbreak of this type of work. Just the slightest turn in one direction or another and the world would still not know about the horrible sport of dog fighting and how pervasive it is on the planet. These book is not about this one case, location or person it is again the act of dog fighting. I had to skip over some of the pages but most this book let me know that my gut instinct about the whole situation and the people involved was "right on".
Thank you Kathy for writing it; brutally honest and exposing.

Sad but true Sep 15, 2011
By Lindsey Moore Horrible, horrible story. If only it was just that, a make believe story. This is the true story of what happened to those poor dogs. There are just no words to describe what a horrible person Michael Vick is, along with all of the people that worked for him. I've never cried while reading a book, until this one. Though sad, every animal lover should read this book, to know the truth. It was more horrific than most people know.
