Teach me something again, only now new! Jun 08, 2009
By jkook I received this book on the start of of an exceptionally rainy week-end. I anticipate that my grass will not only be greener but longer. The book fulfills a much needed re-centering in the field of positive psychology. With Floody's insights we bend the gates of resilience and prosocial behavior letting out the too often 'heady' attempts at giving this field legitimacy and instead letting in a fully comprehensive blend of marked experience, 'real time' organization, and, often a source of contention with other texts, access to applicable ideas. Check out Floody's approaches toward giftedness in children and his section that includes vital engagement. And finally, a workingman's explanation of meta-analysis. In short, a book has been written here that successfully re-iterates the idea that the importance of a text is to make the student feel smart not so much to make the author look smart.(Dale you are indeed very intelligent!) I loved it and it will be a welcome addition to any positive psych. class, workshop, or discussion forum. It definitely stands alone as a teachable resource too. Accessibility, tempo, and strength. Thanks for reinforcing the possibilities! bravo!
