2Terrible book series for young girls  Jan 05, 2011
By super mom
I made the mistake of buying the first three books of this series for my 11 year old daugther, who is a reader and loves ballet. I started reading them myself and they are truly scary! This is not a series about friends who love ballet, this is a series about spoiled brats who bully other girls, manipulate their parents, lie, make fun of their elders and teachers. The characters are rude and incosiderate, deceitful, label-obssesed,prejudiced, really mean girls. I cannot say enough bad things about them. They are not even about ballet, as the characters spend their time cutting class and going to the mall! DO NOT BUY THESE!

Both my daughters love this book series. One has read through book #10 (The Nutcracker Ballet Club) and my younger one just finished this #2 Barred from Ballet. She was glued to this sequel and felt sorry for the character Lisa who hurt her ankle in ballet class. I've read this book myself and also felt sorry for young Lisa but was impressed by her ballet friends who wouldn't let Lisa give up on ballet. In my opinion, Lisa should stay in ballet, learn the routines, and never give up dancing. I like so much how loyal the friends are to each other and also what nice girls they are. It's very touching how close Bianca is with her mother and how they welcome her friends into their home and treat them like family. You'll see this feel-good warmth throughout the series. The characters are very close, loyal, and caring. A wonderful series that I happily buy for my daughters.
