Smart Summer Reading Jun 25, 2009 I purchased this book along with the others in the series for my daughter. She is collecting books for summer reading and her goal is to read ten books this summer. She loved the first four in this series and is enjoying this one too. About half of the books she's going to read this summer are about ballet, and the others are a mix of fantasy and classics like "The Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. My daughter really likes the Ballet Friends series and has been asking for this new one (#5) for some time now. She tells me they're funny and all about dance. She's in her fifth year of ballet now and I go to all her recitals. Recommended for sure. Your child will like it if she takes dance class.

Excellent ballet series Sep 21, 2008 My daughter loves reading funny books and she also takes ballet. This book is both and she loves it! It's very funny and all about an interesting group of girls who take ballet and have a lot of fun together. This book 5 is centered around the big ballet recital at Madame Schumann's dance school. When my daughter read parts of it to me, I chuckled along with her and we ended up reading the books together starting from #1. Books 1-4 are equally good and often made us burst out laughing.
If your daughter takes dance, you should really consider this series for her. My daughter is 10 and she loves it, but I also think it's very appropriate for 11 and 12 year-olds, and even 9 year-olds who are good readers. Again, I highly recommend this book, and am very happy to find such a terrific ballet series that seems tailor made for my little aspiring ballerina.

A Great Ballet Book Sep 05, 2008 This is a wonderful book for young ballerinas and my 11 year old just loved it. She said her favorite parts were the girls rushing to rehearse for the big night, and the actual recital which was fully described and "just like being there." She learned a lot of ballet terms, as well as the story of the ballet Swan Lake. I'm so proud of her for reading all five Ballet Friends books this summer, and I'll be looking for number six to add to her collection. I hope the series comes out with many more wonderful books.
