New Solutions Jul 23, 2009
By Stacy Diane Horn Tom Marcoux' inspirational approach to excelling in today's turbulent marketplace will hit home to those seeking a new way to remain competitive. In "Be Heard and Be Trusted," Tom provides the insights readers need to move forward and live their best lives. He presents methods to hone personal and professional communications skills, and lays out his strategy for moving upward in the business world, from building a personal brand to leadership and negotiation skills, from securing a job to finding a new one. Tom evokes the wisdom of prominent business and cultural leaders to help illustrate his methods for achieving success. Readers frustrated by business-as-usual will discover a new angle that makes sense. To quote Tom: "Your best work is not the triumph of technique but the purity of purpose."
Tom is a fresh voice on the scene. Through his books and popular speaking engagements, new audiences are tapping into his very personal approach to getting ahead in a responsible and spiritual way. I recommend this book to anyone searching for new solutions to the critical problems we face today.

A book that can't be missed Jun 16, 2009
By T. Y. Kevin Yang I was a graduate student of Tom Marcoux, and he taught me the material that is found in this book. Tom taught real and practical methods, which I implemented into my midpoint presentation (my proposal for my graduate school thesis). Tom's pointers, feedback and suggestions greatly improved my presentation's overall content and structure. My story was too long (about 2 minutes 30 seconds) and Tom helped me restructure the story to make it dynamic and last less than 1 minute. In his class, Tom also taught us how to deal with problematic situations. Thanks to Tom's class, I was able to handle the situation when one instructor attacked my presentation, and I smoothly returned to my presentation. I found it very effective to end my presentation with: "So I hope you will please say 'yes' to approving my thesis proposal. Thank you." The panel approved my presentation and thesis proposal quickly, and they said that it was very professionally done. Thank you Tom, for everything you have taught me.

Improve the way you listen and communicate Jun 12, 2009
By J. Pan I'm a graduate student of Tom Marcoux and many of the concepts taught in the classroom from this book have been very helpful to me. For a student working towards the professional field, having strong communication skills are essential. Through his teaching, I've learned how to become a better listener and gain more confidence in the way I communicate. Thanks Tom!
