The author was born in Surry County, North Carolina to his parents Ernest Lee and Daisy Mae Epperson Wood, on October 9, 1926. Clagett Spraugh Woody Wood was the 2nd child in a family of 4 boys and 1 girl. At an early age, Woody discovered he was gifted with a talent of music and art. He played with various bands across America and appeared in several motion pictures in the early 1940s. Woody played with many big name bands on the radio, television and in public appearances as well as having his own band. Wounded in World War II, and receiving a call from the Lord to become a minister, he stepped down from his musical career and became a well-known local minister and chaplain in the southeastern United States. Over the years, Woody has pastored seven churches, served as chaplain, written many Christian articles for several newspapers, published a gospel song book, and taught many Bible courses.
