Wonderfully written coming-of-age story Feb 27, 2009
By Ella M. Shaffer Beer and Loathing in Panama City: A Bloodthirsty Spring Break Exodus is a laugh-out-loud account of the classic coming-of-age story. We see a group of twenty-something boys come away from the harrowing experience of Spring Break better, wiser, yet more cynical men. By the end, Strausbaugh reveals a realistic maturity rarely found in those under seventy; it just goes to show that living life to excess will age you--but when you are able to truly enjoy life's idiosyncratic experiences, who would want it any other way?

Boom goes the dynamite! Feb 26, 2009
By P. C. Hodges Every beer guzzling, co-ed chasing, college student should experience an exodus to Panama City before graduation. The book embellishes on a city that no one over 22 should ever vacation and paints pictures of topless cheerleaders and homo-sexual, mo-hawked frat brothers shot-gunning $.10 beers. A well chronicled story of how 20 something males will act with basically no law enforcement and half naked, alcohol induced, narcotic seeking girls, stumbling around on a beach. Well played Strausbaugh, HST would be proud.
Every time I read the name Earl, all I could think of was the dad from the TV show Dinosaurs. Ha-ha
Fascinating, funny and sarcastic! May 05, 2009

""Soils are fun""
In Strausbaugh's "Beer and Loathing," a small crew of students venture into a road journey from Virginia Tech to Panama City. A vivid description of the trip with funny incidents makes the reader become a witness where the young students crave for the excitement of debauchery. Strausbaugh uses a narrative full of sarcasm to describe the places and people they see throughout their journey. He successfully portrays the most common "needs" that spring breakers search in an intense, hilarious and sometimes crude narrative. If you love reality shows, such as MTV's "Real World" and "Steve-O: Demise and Rise," this book is surely a must for you. "Beer and Loathing" might seem like one of those episodes without the uncensored or uncut scenes, but the only difference is that the protagonist finds part of the answer of life at the end of this journey.
Springtime Must May 04, 2009
By M. Smith Keith Strausbaugh captures the complete college spring break experience in his true story Beer and Loathing in Panama City. Keith, along with seven acquaintances, embark on a bizarre journey to the Florida haven where they push the limits of human existence. Throughout the book, Keith and his new friends discover their abilities to deal with conflict as it comes, and not once let it impede in the drunk fest that is spring break.I will read this book to my children as a bedtime story.
A Good Time Indeed May 04, 2009
By M. D. Cuesta Beer and Loathing in Panama City is a book about a group of students heading down to Panama City for their spring break. What ensues is hilarity and drinking pushed to the limits. It tells of a spring break that every college student dreams and hopes for. Many events that happen in the story are ones that every college student can relate too. This book is filled with good laughs and good times as well as some wise thoughts about life. It's one book that you will not be able to put down! I highly recommend this book because even the casual reader will enjoy this book. Overall, it's just a very enjoyable book.
