practical and sensible Nov 18, 2009 This book summarizes information about behavior in a way that makes it easy to think what you could do with students who are misbehaving. It is very handy. It is positive and helps to clarify how to stay positive, build relationships with students, and still be effective in handling misbehavior. I think it should be on the bookshelf of every teacher or staff who use paraeducators, to either share or to help train them. It is easy to read and understandable, yet it is profound and full of ideas that really work and that lead to more positive interactions between adults and students.

Great book for parapro's and administrators Aug 08, 2009 This provides helpful tips and examples for paraprofessionals. Administrators should also take a look at this book for ideas and examples for professional development targeted specifically for their para's.

Behavior Support Strategies for Education Paraprofesionals Feb 03, 2009 Dr. Hensen has captured the meat of an issue and placed it in an easy to read format. This book was used for team collaboration and academic seminars where I work. It was extremely useful for all levels of educators. I highly recommend this book for those new to the field as well as those with many years experience.

Not only for Paraprofessionals, for the entire team Jan 17, 2009 In a concise 99 pages, Dr. Henson hits the nail on the head in finding the root of most behavior difficulties that educators, therapists, and parents face. By viewing the child as a 'whole' person who responds to stressors in the most adaptive way they can, he helps the reader sift through the silt to find the gold nuggets that suggest the root of behavioral responses. So instead of chasing behaviors with ineffective interventions, he helps teams find solutions in a Humanistic manner through empathy and respect.
I recommend this book to all team members including parents as it provides an overarching philosophy for responding to troubled students across all settings. The best book on my shelf!!!
