Tugging on your heart strings Jun 20, 2011
By Elizabeth Laurino This is one of the most deeply heart-felt books that I have ever read. Over 3 months ago I picked up "Being a Sharefish in a Selfish World" on a Saturday to read what I thought was going to be about a missions trip to Honduras. For those of you who don't know, Sharefish is an organization that paves the way for children in a small town in Honduras to have a chance at an education. That Saturday afternoon with Sharefish was an awe inspiring experience that led me into the life of the man who started Sharefish and gave me insight to a human being who allowed himself to find the life he deserved by the grace of God. Oie Osterkamp shows all of us that you can achieve the wonderful by listening to your heart and trusting the voice inside of you that has been gifted to all mankind. This book inspired me in the deepest possible way and I highly recommend taking the time to read. It will open you heart, make you laugh, cry and give you the courage to live your dream.
Thank you Oie!!
A Gem Worth Sharing! Jun 02, 2011
By Aaron Hill If you have ever felt that there is more to life than what you experience in your little fish bowl, this book will take you on a journey to realize there is a whole lot more. The ocean of life is waiting for you to dive in, you just have to have the confidence to take the first step. This book will encourage you, tug at your heart, share new perspectives and ultimately be a beacon for taking that first step.
I highly recommend this book and encourage sharing with others!
Couldn't Put Down the Book! May 18, 2011
By Korey Scott What a great book! I haven't read a book in 1-2 days in a long time. I thought it was very gripping, and I didn't want to put it down. The two main characters, Izzy and Nyles, were very identifiable with me so I had to finish all of it.
Oie's writing instantly brings you into the lives of the characters so much that I felt like I was a passenger in the truck as well. I imagined the actor Sam Elliot as Izzy.
This book is a great read if you are searching for a way to be used by God. Oie reveals the real reasons why we need Christ and how our attitude should be in serving Him. After I finished the book, I was very encouraged to not only continue serving God, but reassured in knowing that we can be used by Him no matter where we are in life.
A story about finding your faith and purpose.... Feb 08, 2011
By Anna's Gourmet Goodies I've had the good fortune to meet and get to know Oie Osterkamp. His stories are inspiring, moving, and always seem to bring a tear to my eye.
This is a story about a man's journey from being lost to finding God, finding himself and ultimately, finding his purpose. I expect most of us have experienced parts of this story in some way or another.
It's an enjoyable, engaging read and if you've ever found yourself in the ditch a few times, are searching for your path or just enjoy stories of struggle, redemption and faith, you'll want to pick up a copy of Oie's book. He reminds us once again about the power we all have to change someone's life forever, if we just focus on sharing ourselves with the world. That's what being a Sharefish is all about.
A Must Read Jan 29, 2011
By Corne' Very much enjoyed "Being a Sharefish in a Selfish World". Oie puts life back into perspective with this great book. It is better to share than to be selfish. I highly recommend this book!
