A great read and helpful Aug 06, 2009 I just got my copy yesterday and have not been able to put it down. Not only is it helping me get a better grasp on my characters, but it is helping me to understand the personalities of the (real) people around me. This is a wonderfully written book that will expand your world, whether you are a fiction writer or not.

Outstanding! Apr 08, 2009 I'm an aspiring screenwriter and I want to employ elements of the enneagram to create characters, but I couldn't find the right book that specifically aids WRITERS in understanding and then employing its theories. This is the first and probably the only book you need to do so. It's a simple read, and the scenarios it offers showcasing each of the nine types was extremely helpful. I wish I'd bought this book $70 ago.

Understand your Characters, Write a Better Story Dec 29, 2008 This book saves a writer's time by ensuring that characters will have enough of the right kinds of conflict to make a believable and satisfying story. The fictional examples are great because Schnebly carries the same examples throughout all character types to make the differences easily understood. Written in Schnebly's smooth, signature teaching style, it's interesting and informative to the last page.

A keeper for your writing craft shelf Dec 19, 2008 If I ever can't figure out a character's motivation or what he or she would do next, I just thumb through BELIEVABLE CHARACTERS and the synapses start crackling. Easy to grasp and use, the explanations of personality types really resonate. My copy is dog-eared. I love the fiction examples, too.

A Must Read for All Fiction Writers Oct 08, 2008 This book is well-written and highly detailed. The Enneagram is one of the best tools around for creating three dimensional characters and Laurie Schenbly is a respected writing teacher as well as a multi-published novelist. Written in an engaging style, Schenbly takes you by the hand and step by step shows you how to build dynamic characters. If you're an aspiring fiction writer, Believable Characters should be an invaluable tool in your witing arsenal.
