Beneath the Plastic

Rather than fixing his unsatisfying life, Charlie has created multiple lives, each seperate from the others. But when Charlie finds a life he wants, a life with a single mother and her son, Charlie slows enough for the rest of his lives to catch up. Specifically, his life as a member of The Brotherhood of Panhandlers, an anarchist group of homeless men led by a mad man, Cleveland, who is willing to destroy Charlie, and everyone close to him to get what he wants.

5Long Live The Brotherhood of Panhandlers!  Mar 06, 2007
By S. Allen
Beneath the Plastic was a very good book that kept me interested till the end. I usually read before bedtime and regularly had to cut myself off from reading too late. It wasn't a super long book though so I didn't lose too much beauty sleep. Anyway, there were so many funny one liners that relate to people in mine and probably your own lives you can't help but laugh out-loud. I thought this story would make a good movie and, although not altogether like "Fight Club," it exudes the same kind of clever and quick witted observations. Bottom line - Beneath the Plastic is worth the read and will at least keep you from falling asleep. Ha! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5At the risk of sounding too cliche, A real page turner  Nov 05, 2011
By Z. L. Croll
I read this book years ago, and while the specifics do escape me, I remember a well developed protagonist that also acted as the story's antagonist. Great depth of characters and character development.

Why, potential reader, should you trust a reviewer that can't remember the specifics of "Beneath the Plastic? The answer is simple. I read this book in one sitting...in Hawaii. Not on the beach, as most would expect, but on the lanai. I started my morning with a satisfying read as I usually do and I was enraptured with the story. I couldn't put the book down, not even long enough to make the short walk to perhaps the most beautiful coastline on earth. At that moment, everything that I needed to see was right in my hands.

Give this promising book a chance. It will take you places you never knew you wanted to go to. It is well worth the read, and for me a reread.

5Insightfully Amusing  Mar 23, 2007
By Justin Beller
This work was an insightful piece on the complexity of our society and the different "characters" people play in thier lifes. It has a captivating storyline and despite some deep serious themes and honest perpective on the world, it is light enough where I must confess I have never laughed out loud so hard in a book before. I read the whole book in two sittings, seriously. The book is art, from the well designed cover and realistic thought in the dialogue, to the melody of the words written, it was like a your favorite song on a disc, you want to play over and over. A definite reccomend. If a Spanish person read it, they would probably say bueno or maybe even fantastico.
