What twelve-year-old Mop lacked in height, she made up for in imagination. But not even the wildest imagination could have envisaged the progression of events and final outcome of the summer holiday she shared with her cousin Courtney, friend Tama and his dog, Jonesy, in the remote little New Zealand seaside settlement of Beachcomber Cove. The story revolves around the intrigue surrounding an old abandoned beach bach. Is there any substance to the uneasiness Mop feels about the derelict building, or is it simply the product of a runaway imagination? Then inexplicable things begin to occur, and the trio, plus dog, finds itself on a trail that leads right to the door of the old bach and the secrets it is concealing.
