The Fifth Frame - The Core of Christian Leadership Jan 10, 2007 Tony Metze has taken leadership books to a new and exciting level. While most leadership books are boring and slow reading, this book provides a new concept to combine tired and worn out principles into a new way of thinking. Tony expands leadership into Christian leadership principles for today. He tells us that "Christian leaders need to be able to articulate their call to service and their feelings of humility before God." Then he explains how to do that by using scripture examples of Moses and Jesus and their leadership styles. Tony's Fifth Frame shows us that God is the center of Christian leadership where we work our way from "Doing" through "Becoming" into "Being" with God as our perfect leader.

Much-Needed Ministry Model is Here! Dec 07, 2006 Having been in ordained ministry for ten years, I have read all manner of books about pastoral leadership. While seminary did offer some study in this area, I have searched long for such a practical guide to understanding the minister's role within the church. The Reverend Dr. Metze offers a helpful graphic before the first chapter which allows the reader an overview of his thesis. Metze centers his leadership model on God, God's word and wisdom, and God's call. Then Metze shows how our discipleship and discernment, steeped in humility, must be a balance between four different types of leadership: symbolic, political, structural, and human resource-centered. In explaining his thesis, the Rev. Dr. Metze is thorough and very Biblically centered; at the same time, however, he explains each concept using stories from his personal experiences as a pastor. I would recommend this book to a first year ministery student as well as to a seasoned professional who wants to clarify his or her direction in ministry and leadership; this book would also be helpful to lay leaders in the church.
