Must-Have Reading Jul 04, 2005
This is a definite 'must-have' for all parents who want their children to march to their own drummer, and be proud of it. Ms. Slovenz has a very gentle way of dealing with a difficult and often painful subject - being different from everyone else - and her a 'spoonful of sugar' approach is sure to captivate the pre- and early-school set. Short and to the point, this is a quintessential child's story, told from a child's view, in a child's words. Even the whimsical crayon illustrations look as though a (precocious) child drew them. The entire volume is expertly designed to capture little imaginations while teaching the value of tolerance and acceptance. This book is destined to become any child's favorite tale from the very first reading.
I only hope Billy's adventures in the world of growing up will continue.
