Blood of the Earth

Blood of the Earth is a fast paced thriller about an American couple caught in a war pitting the technological might of the Mexican military against the insurgent army of southern Mexico and the dying remnants of the indigenous Lacandones of the rain forest. Griffith Grant, a reclusive physics professor at the University of Virginia, is set to honeymoon in southern Mexico with Karen, his outgoing, schoolteacher bride. Their intention is to camp in the rain forest and visit the nearly extinct Lacandon Indians. While camping in the rain forest, Griffith and Karen stumble across the kidnapped children of Mexican Presidente Patrillo and escape with them into the depths of the still-uncharted jungle. As they flee into the jungle, they encounter poisonous snakes, helicopter attacks, torrential downpours, gunfire and a near drowning. They do not know who to trust and who is colluding with the forces chasing them, as they are now believed to be kidnappers. Can Griffith overcome his own ignorance and fears to save his wife, two kidnapped children, the Lacandones-and the rain forest itself?
