Blues For Susannah

Forensic psychiatrist Kristin Van Zant consults with the Mob in Blues for Susannah to hunt for a latter-day Jack the Ripper who's stalking Atlanta's upscale strip clubs. She also joins forces with a backcountry lawman in the search for his daughter, a runaway musical prodigy. Along the way, Kris discovers an underworld kingpin's obsession that he'd kill to keep hidden. At last she closes in on the lone, deadly point where all those secrets meet.

5The third Van Zant mystery.  May 16, 2009
By Frank R. Freemon
The third entry in the casebook of Kris Van Zant is a thriller. From the first two entries we know that the protagonist is a forensic psychiatrist at an academic medical center who moonlights as a fearless crime fighter. Now we find her related to mafia dons from New Jersey and in love either with an Italian debonnaire billionaire or a gritty Russian detective or both. But her Southern roots shine when a good ol' boy county sheriff comes to Atlanta to search for his lost daughter, a Country Western singer. Hold tight to your cooter mints, boys, because the game is afoot!
