Bocas

A PUERTO RICAN HERO RISES. In a marketplace surrounded with mostly Non-Latino characters, Bocas emerges. The comic features a major cast of Spanish heroes and villains as the story revolutionized the comic and graphic novel industry. Bocas is simply a living walking curse. That has extraordinary powers and is willing to do anything to get the job completed. Bocas isn't a traditional hero at all. Even though with these awesome powers, he is an everyday being who has to struggle with the ups and downs of daily life. Part of the story takes place in Puerto Rico circa 1970, and the other half of the story takes place in Philadelphia. The art style is drawn in a gritty urban realistic style by Jake Estrada who combines it with a unique cinematic style with Boricua rendering techniques. The graphic novel is packed with visuals that will enlighten the senses by utilizing several different tones and with the gritty commentary that gives the viewer an engaging experience. Once you are finished with the book you will want to read more about Bocas. This book also introduces Boricua influences which have never been seen in any modern comic book. The book was original released in late 2005, and has been finally fully collected here.
