14 Real Stories of Boomers May 14, 2009 These are real stories. That's what is so great about this book. It has details of real lives of 14 Boomers who decided to live in a warm, sunny place.
A new retirement model can be seen among Boomers living in Puerto Vallarta. Living in Vallarta has meant working for most. Nelson gives "the good" & "the bad" -- which is good -- it's not overly romanticized.
Some boomers says they remain in "PV", as the locals call it, because the people are so "nice and friendly". Nelson covers their struggles, and their zig-zag paths: marriages end, mates pass away. Many were vacationers with "time shares" who decided to stop "sharing their time" in Vallarta and simply move there. There is great beauty: the foothills of Sierra Madres, gorgeous weather (same latitude as Hawaii), culture: art community, ecotours, whale watching and an inexpensive university.
If you want details and encouragement, this is the book for you!

40 year update on one of the most colorful cities in North America Mar 11, 2009 Been 40 years since I last visited Puerto Vallarta, following my tour as a Marine in Vietnam. It was the perfect antidote then and now, based on this wonderful depiction of life there today.
Mr. Nelson brings his subjects to life as we read about their very colorful lives prior to and follwing their moves to this now, world class city and resort.
You will get a great, first hand and very real depiction of life there today with all of it's opportunities and challanges.
If you have any interest in living or visiting the Mexican coast, this is an essential read!

Invaluable look at Puerto Vallarta from a local's viewpoint Nov 05, 2008 Anyone who is thinking about moving to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, or even visiting this lush paradise, will glean more incite into the real Mexico from reading this wonderful book than from any travel guide. The writer, Robert Nelson, draws us into the hearts and souls of the American and Canadian expatriots who live and work in this fascinating city on the Pacific Ocean. The individuals and couples he has introduced us to, make Puerto Vallarta blossom. He also treats us to the story behind the lives of these citizen adventurers, including their personal migration from disparate parts of the world. If you have ever thought of moving to a "city by the sea" Boomers in Pradise is a must read.
