Brilliant, clean, highly useful writing May 03, 2009 Can't say enough good things about this book. Should be required reading for anyone and everyone who is thinking of starting a business. Mr. Turkel's taken a complex topic and given those of us who are not marketing or PR majors a strong, basic overview of the notion of branding. I am still digesting the implications of what I've read in this book, and I cannot overstate how useful this material is to my goals with my business.
You have to know Bruce Jun 26, 2007 You have to know Bruce to appreciate, not just the hard-won wisdom, but also the incredible enthusiasm he brings to marketing. He's one of the gifted few who can simplify complex issues and help make you understand them. Please read this book. But even more importantly, go hear him speak. You'll walk away knowing that you learned a lot, and found someone who truly loves his craft.

concise, conversational, and powerful Mar 02, 2006 This may sound like just another marketing book, but it's not. It's actually Bruce Turkel's explanation of Brain Darts®, which, in his opinion, are seven characteristics that effective communications have in common.
Throughout, Bruce presents his interesting and often profound thoughts as simply as possible. And in contrast with many other books on this subject matter, he doesn't try to impress the reader with lofty theories or words you'll have to look up in a dictionary.
Overall, Building Brand Value gives the reader excellent advice on how to communicate powerfully and effectively.

Compelling Communications...now there's a thought! Feb 13, 2006 What struck me most about Bruce Turkel's latest book is that it offers practical advice about communicating in life, not just business. In today's world of instant messaging and news served up in 30-second sound bites, we've lost sight of how to say what we mean with any clarity. What you won't find in this book is a load of boring business speak and branding cliches. What you will find is a collection of engaging anecdotes that will keep you entertained while inspiring you to be a better communicator.

Awesome and Informative Jan 30, 2006 It's obvious from the start of this book that Bruce Turkel truly understands his audience. "Building Brand Value" breaks down communication in a way that is informative and witty.
Through personal stories and illustration, Bruce explains the strategies behind some of the more popular advertising campaigns and shows why they were effective. Then, Bruce explains how these methods can be used in your everyday life.
I've read many books on communication and branding and they all pretty much say the same thing. "Building Brand Value" is the first one that gives me something tangible that I can use personally and professionally.
