5One of the Three Must Have Books to Pass the CAPM Exam  May 03, 2009
This is one of the THREE books that in my opinion you must use to ensure passing the CAPM exam:
1. This book: CAPM Exam Quicklet by Dr. Paul Sanghera. The highlights of this book are: questions very similar to the actual exam questions; Exam Tips that prepare you for what kind of questions to expect in the exam and how to handle them; Quick Exam Prep section at the end of the book offers a very brief overall review of the material covered by the exam (you can quickly go through this section just a couple of hours before the exam to put your arms around the scope of the exam just before taking the exam). There are three sample exams offered in the book with the answers that explain why a correct answer is correct and an incorrect answer is incorrect. The presenation/organization of the first sample exam even reviews the crucial points in each chapter of the PMBOK Guide and presents a big picture. However, do not take this review as a substitution for the PMBOK Guide or a Study Guide for the exam. This book is simply the best among all the Sample Exam books or packages available for the CAPM exam. I have found the information and the answers in this book very accurate in context of the PMBOK Guide. There are some typos that the author provided the Errata right here toward the end of this page in the Customer Discussion forum. Other exam books also have typos (tha's unfortunately a fatc of life); the only difference is that I have not seen Errata for those books.
Bottom line: Highly recommended.

2. The CAPM Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try (Test Prep series). This in my opinion is the best Study Guide to pass the CAPM exam. It's very simple to read and understand. The coverage is quite comprehensive and to the point. It clarifies some points that you might otherwise be confused by just reading them in the PMBOK Guide. Just like Dr. Paul Sanghera, Andy Crowe does a great job in making things easier to understand. He also presetns some real-life scenarios, so you can connect what your reading to the real life out their or to your own PM experience. This is the best way to learn; it helps remembering the material. The focus on inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs is very useful. The graphics in the book are well presented so that they will stick. I agree with another reviewer, however, that the sample questions are a little easier compared to what you will find on the exam; however the questions are very useful to understand the material in the book.
Bottom line: highly recommended.
3. PMBOK Guide. Although not very interesting read, this is the standard on which the CAPM exam is based. So, you better read this book. That done, Andy Crowe's and Paul Sanghera's books will help you to actually pass the exam.

2Mediocre at best  Mar 18, 2009
While this book covered the basics, it was FULL of errors: spelling, grammatical and formatting. There were even some "answers" that were wrong. For example, I marked a question "B", the answer section in the back reads "Correct answer: A. The reason answer B is correct..." That occured at least 3 times.
Now, since I did not use this book as my sole guide (you HAVE to use the PMBoK) I was able to find these errors quickly, but it made it very frustrating.
Also, it advertises that it explains why wrong answers are wrong. The explanation of why answers are wrong would be some variation of this statement: "The reason answers A,B and C are wrong is because they are incorrect." Instead it should have said something like "Answer A is wrong because that term relates to this particular theory" (or something of the like)
I would have also liked to see a section dedicated to the particular formulas and maybe even a whole practice test designed for the formulas.
Another thing that would have been useful is a glossary section or something of the like.
While i DID pass the CAPM, and while this was an OK tool to help me study, i did NOT find it to be all that exceptional and if i had to give my advice, spend the $30 on a different

5Excellent Tool for Passing the CAPM Exam  Jan 22, 2009
This by no doubt is the best exam questions book in the market to prepare for the CAPM exam. I agree with some other reviewers that the questions are very realistic and very close to the actual exam questions. The answers are explained well. I also liked the other two features: a quick review of each chapter in the PMBOK Guide and the Exam Quick Prep. However, you do need a study guide such as the PMBOK Guide in addition to this book.
In response to a couple of other reviewers' concerns, I actually felt that the typos in this book are quite less than typos and errors that I have found in other books on the same topic. I also thought that the explanations to the answers take care of most of the typos. For example, if the option B is listed as the correct answer, and the explanation explains how option C is the correct answer...then we know that the correct answer is C, LOL :-). Other than these few trivial mistakes, I found the information in this book accurate and compatible with the PMBOK Guide: The answers to most of the questions carry reference by page and section of the PMBOK Guide. Also if you scroll down to the Customer Discussions section on this Book Page, click on the Errata: CAPM Exam Quicklet link; you will receive the Errata for this book presented by the author...I have not seen many authors going extra mile like this to help the readers....I applause the author for this.
A must for the CAPM Exam preparation.

4Good but not very good  Nov 21, 2008
Well, this book is easy to read and to exercise on it. It has also some very useful schemes. However I am surprised that there are some mistakes and typos that weren't corrected. Also, the examples in the book fit just a little with the kind of exam questions that I have had at the CAPM examination. However, from all the books I have read on the CAPM theme, it is the most appropriate and recommendable.

3Is the right answer really right?  Nov 16, 2008
My husband tried using this book as a study guide and it became very questionable when I was checking his answers to practice exams and would come across this situation many times:

"B is the correct answer because..."

"A, B and D are incorrect because..."

So is B right or wrong? This happened so many times in the practice exams in this book and I'm sure there are far better edited books to use as study guides with practice exams. Nothing like having the added stress of "is my answer right or wrong" to "Will I pass the real exam by using this book as an aid?"
