Call Me Vladimir: A Personal Story of the Rise of Russia and the Fall of the Soviet Union

The personal story of Vladimir, a Russian tank commander, who stands against the Soviet Union in defending his lover, freedom and Mother Russia. He remains unknown to the world in revealing nothing of his real identity in responding to one and all that they “Just Call Me Vladimir.” Vladimir has to choose between his Soviet wife and his Russian lover, his military career and his personal freedom, in fulfilling the vision of his dying Russian Orthodox mother, who reveals her son’s unorthodox mission for Mother Russia. He rises to the vision in the three day uprising of the democratic reformers, August 19th to the 21st, of 2001, in taking his T 72 tank to stand with them at the barricades. In taking his tank to defend the Russian freedom demonstrators, he is followed by others, who turned the tide in front of the Russian Parliament, known as the Russian White House, in fulfilling his mother’s vision of a resurrected Mother Russia who rises in three days from its Soviet tomb.

I very well remember these times.I watched as this unfolded. We all hoped that Russia would continue on a road to freedom.
This book cleverly works in a story that follows history.I enjoyed the key people in the story. They are well developed and bring a
personal touch to the story
The book was well worth reading.JC
