Born on Long Island, Darlene M. McCurty is a native New Yorker and graduated from Adelphi University, Queens College, and Brooklyn College respectively. As an educational evaluator in the Hempstead Public School District, she is no stranger to understanding the importance of open communication with children. A published poet, she is the author of I'm Special Too, which was featured in “Ebony” magazine. She lives in Amityville, New York.
