be critical Oct 17, 2009 THis book is awesome and will help you out ALOT. But if you are serious about going to the caribbean you need to do so much more research than this. You need to educate yourself extensively on many schools because this is an important decision and this book is only a small part of it all. I recommend you read the book and go and visit as many schools as you can.
It's never too late to give up on your dream!!! Jul 31, 2009 This book gives you a great behind the scenes look into Caribbean Medical Schools. Being a not so great standardized test taker myself, the MCAT should and will not determine whether or not you get into medical school. Don't sell yourself short, and never give up on your dream because of the competition in the U.S. or Canada. Med school is med school. It's as simple as Undergraduate colleges and SAT scores. Dr. Asad Raza gives legitimate reasons for attending Caribbean Medical Schools. Do not sit around and wait extra semesters or years just to try to please some of these Admissions committees. This book is logical, education, and for the student who wants to attend a Caribbean Medical School and practice in the U.S. He goes over the Pros and Cons of attending such a school, but believe me, he has no regrets and has received a great education from SABA University. He breaks down the number of spots available in residences, the cost & tuition of such schools, and how to go through the USMLE process in order to pass boards. I strongly recommend this book for someone who might have a lower MCAT or a average science or cumulative GPA. Many of the people who attend medical school are of older age, and many have diverse backgrounds such as other jobs, countries, families, etc. He also recommends which schools are the best to apply to! Definately a must read, and remember this book makes you realize to go for your dream of becoming a physician.
MUST HAVE BOOK Jun 16, 2009 MUST HAVE for anyone considering international medical schools especially if you are a CANADIAN. It is funny how soo many IMGs i have across especially Canadians don't know about the issues that IMGs have to deal with and this book puts everything into perspective regarding all the issues needed for licensure in US. BEFORE investing your dollars in your choice of medical school MAKE SURE to read this book. YOU WILL BE surprised by how much you don't know!
Shining a light into the Unknown Jun 12, 2009 I can proudly say that this book brings very detailed information about medical schools journey in the Caribbean and hands over the tools (and his personal experience) you need to succeed. I'm attending Windsor Medical School in the Caribbean soon and this book gives great up-to-date information for the journey ahead. I got in touch with the author and he was very helpful in resolving any questions i had.
Thank you Dr. Asad Raza
