5Grief Relief  Dec 17, 2009
By Emily Dickinson
By Dorothy Ryan

"Our Brain When We Grieve," the chapter by Polly O'Connor, is outstanding.
My mother recently passed away and my grief at times has felt overwhelming.
In her chapter, the author explains scientific material on how our brain experiences
loss in easy to read and understand terms. Her "assignments" to help the pain
of loss are caring and creative. I used several to help me deal with not only my
mother's passing but again when a close friend recently died. While I am still
a neophyte at learning how to focus less on sorrow and more on joyful memories,
thanks to "Our Brain When We Grieve," I am coping better than I expected.
Polly O'Connor's writing style is clear and succinct. Her compassion is conveyed
on every page. Other chapters I found helpful in Changes of the Heart include
"You've Just Been Elected to the Board" and "Ending the War at Work."
You'll be making the right choice when you buy this book!

5Great Book!  Nov 19, 2009
By Ella Brook "Lis"
This is a great book, very well written and easy to read and follow. It offers simple yet very helpful and powerful steps on a variety of life challenges. Reading this book made me feel good about myself and helped me redefine and clarify my decision-making process. I think the fact that each chapter in this book is written by a different life coach who has expertise in a particular field makes it so great and unique. Following easy steps and advice from this book made me a happier person and took off a considerable amount of stress in my life. It is amazing how reading one book can change a person so much! I highly recommend it!

5fantastic simple strategies for overcoming life challenges  Dec 02, 2009
By professor
there are so many books on the self-help market that focus on promoting the writer through giving guidance ranging from obvious to bogus to plain boring - as opposed to actually offering helpful practical advice. this one is NOT one of those. very well written by people who obviously care about others, the book does not 'lecture' you but is full of simple and clear down-to-earth pragmatic strategies of facing both every day dilemmas as well as more challenging situations (from losing weight and getting along with colleagues at work - to child rearing and pursuing your life passions). people who wrote this book are not in love with themselves - they are in love with you and their passion is to help you do and be better. reading this books is like talking to a best friend - the authors know you darn well and their advice is spot on. a fantastic read - and a great positive holiday gift.
