Finding the Bliss within Chaos is easier than you think... Jul 14, 2009
By Kathy Gottberg I happened upon this small book of poetry by chance and although I didn't read it all through at once, every time I did pick it up and read a poem or two I was struck by the descriptive images and stark emotion I found there. The title, "Chaos & Bliss" is quite accurate because nearly every poem seems to wring out both the good and it's opposite and then bring it back around again. Another example of that "two sided coin" is that every poem is written in both English and Spanish. Certainly my Spanish is very limited--but it was somehow very fulfilling to repeat the words in Spanish after reading them in English. Definitely a yin/yang experience that can be felt. Beyond the words themselves--and I very much appreciate the author's use of so many juicy words!--I also found his vivid descriptions of nature very appealing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience something outside of their usual comfort zone. After reading it, I think any reader might find that they see the ordinary world around them in a deeper and more holistic way.

Mindful relaxation with soothing poems from problems to serenity Feb 04, 2009
By Gary Lange
"Ph.D."
I was awed by the enjoyable poetry of "Chaos & Bliss". Jaime Carlo-Casellas's soothing work is a vehicle that allows us to incorporate significant messages into our daily lives. The messages are particularly poignant if you practice mindfulness meditation and yoga. In "Chaos and Bliss", Dr. Jaime reminds us that life can be complex yet simple. He gently weaves his words so that we can see the value of looking at both sides of a problem, and that by doing so we can experience the peace and splendor available to us at any given moment. For example, in the poem "Rose", we see both the pleasant and unpleasant aspects of a beautiful creation "a being of fragrance, radiance and thorns." The poem "Garbage" reminds us to let go: "Don't fret over the discarded pamphlet or...the ripped up snapshots of yester years," encouraging us to move beyond the "fretting", so that we can--as in his poem "Celestial Paradise"--"see the heavens sparkle with an explosion of purples, oranges and reds".
Another beautiful aspect of the book is that the poems are in English and Spanish. This makes each poem sing uniquely--in the lyrical and romantic language of Spanish and the richness and diversity of English. If you are looking for a thought-provoking, yet relaxing poetry book with messages that can transform your life, this is the book for you. As a psychotherapist, I help clients find balance and I recommend "Chaos & Bliss" to help them center themselves between problems and serenity.

Relaxing and enlightening read Sep 05, 2009

As I read, and read again these wonderful poems, I find something new every time. I guess it depends on my mood or the particular moment, but they are always inviting, relaxing, thought-provoking, and even mysterious. In my case is a double-treat, as I'm fluent in both English and Spanish. It is truly a particular experience to be able to read each poem in one language and then in the other, comparing how your emotions change and how the author tried to express the same sentiment in two different languages. If you love poetry, or would like to start reading poetry, you will find this book to be a jewel.
