Chet

Chet by newcomer Tom Haikin is fresh, edgy and insightful. Written with a bold and playful prose, this debut is pure, straightforward metaphor for mankind's missed opportunities to make a difference in life. When Chet, an easygoing, at times bumbling guy misses his opportunity to serve the Almighty, God ropes him up to heaven for a little one-on-one consultation.

This is a great little book with a message everyone can relate to. How many of us go about our lives oblivious to our true potential? I bought several copies to have on hand as gifts...I also made it the subject of my book club! Funny and poignant. I look forward to the next book by this author!

4Everyone Can Make A Difference. . .  Jan 01, 2009

Tom Haikin's novel Chet proved to be a wonderful story that offered far more than what one might expect at first glance. Chet is the story of an average man who goes through his life missing opportunities to make a difference. After "failing" at his life's mission, he is summoned back to a place that many of us might refer to as heaven, where The Chief (God) and his team do their best to help Chet get back on track. While the satirical, and often humorous, description of Chet's afterlife take front stage in Haikin's tale, this surprising little story develops into something much more. Hidden behind the satire, is the message that we all can make a difference. Much like the message of Karma, what we do in this lifetime effects not only our life, but also the lives of others and what we learn now carries over into the world beyond. Kudos to Haikin for sharing his story and giving the reader a message to smile about.

I didn't realize the book was paperback, I might have missed that in the description. I am not finished with the book but am really enjoying reading it. It is probably one of the easiest reading books I have read in quite a while and has a very entertaining story to tell.
