Chicken Wings, Ding-a-Lings, and Bling

Author D.J. Bush unearths a gem in this her second book. Everything about this book flows. This book amplifies the author’s reach and displays her writing versatility. This hilarious, sensual, and serious read is a direct contrast to her very explicit debut novel. Words are carefully used in this book to invoke thought and dispel stereotypes. She writes with a unique passion about what she sees as the destruction of a culture of people to the larger plight of humanity as a whole. She is not afraid to burrow into subjects that some will only surface. She is betting on you, the reader, enjoying her risk taking. Undeniably a consummate author comfortable in her own skin, D.J. dares the reader to think outside of the box and set their own date with destiny. Her style is unmatched. This book will touch funny bones and hearts simultaneously. D.J. bares her soul choosing to intensely disclose the trials and tribulations of the Black culture through captivating and compelling short stories.

5THIS IS A FANTASTIC BOOK!  Oct 13, 2009
By R. B. Davis
I looked at the cover and wondered if this would be an adult book or something else? Well, well, well, I question no more! THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART. IT IS AN ADULT-LEVEL BOOK in every sense of the word. I read about needs. I read about the life calling in us all. I read about why we must never forget. I got so emotional reading this book. It was so real and captivating. Explicit is probably the best word. This book is an easy read and I add "a must read." The book is well written and it is as fun as it is informative. The book almost bends and folds like a rollercoaster with its catchy tones and lingo. I am not sure if I learned a great deal more about a race of people as I did about the undying hope in humanity. This is a book to be shared on college campuses by professors. This is a book for high school students. This is a book for a time such as this. I enjoyed the book and believe everyone should have a copy of THIS book in their library. It will generate discussion. It just might generate a change. I know after reading this book; "I got it."
