Is it a B Movie? Nov 28, 2010
By Philipp Weimer Reading this book is like watching a B movie on a Friday night. Which isn't a bad thing at all. They can be good entertainment, fun, they are often over the top, but when it's over, you leave with the feeling of being well entertained.
Unfortunately, that's not the end of the review of this book. The authors try to spin a story that goes over centuries and more than half of the book is spent shedding light on the background of the main story. Unfortunately, it is done in a way that let me loose track of what the main story was about and I felt like reading a collection of short stories about werewolves and vampires.
Which again could be fun, if only some of the stories would not be edited in such a sloppy way. Some start being written in the past, only to switch to being told in present. Now, that you can argue is to make the narrative more intense and probably is up to the reader if you like that or not, but I don't really find a good reason why there need to be so many typos.
The B Movie feeling rises again in the big battle towards the end of the book. I just wonder: Why is so much time spent on showing the background of main figures when all of a sudden characters appear to turn the tide of the battle without any introduction at all? Ok, at least one of the characters doesn't need to be introduced as we probably all heard of him.
So, is reading this book like watching a B Movie? Yes it is.
It just isn't a good one.

Great first entry in an exciting new series!!! Jun 10, 2010
By James M. Wargacki After years of watching Vampires and Werewolves slowly drift into parody territory with books such as Twilight, Chronicles of the Damned signals the return of the dark and gothic nature of these frightening, supernatural creatures. Set in modern day Miami but flashing back to various iconic times throughout history, R.N. Matos weaves a deeply intricate and compelling mythology for his characters.
For his first novel R.N. Matos does a good job of setting up the back story for his characters Brunos, Matthias, and Marcus. The writing style is extremely fast-paced much like a Graphic Novel and after a reading session it's easy to find that you've read through a large portion of the book. Overall, the characters and setting are interesting and original and leave you with a sense of longing for the next book in the series. For those who love the mythology of writers like Anne Rice and the pace of authors like Dean Koontz, Chronicles of the Damned can't be beat. Bravo Mr. Matos.....Bravo.

The only problem I have with this book is that you can't put it down. The story is exciting, the werewolves are powerful, and the plot is intense. I hope to see more from R.N. Matos SOON!

First and for most I want to say that I really enjoyed the book! It was a really awesome spin on Vampire stories. I really enjoyed the walk through history in this world. There is a point in the book where you just don't want to put it down the story is a fantastic roller coaster ride through time with some really interesting views on how things may have gone.
I am going to read this book again real soon I know there will be things I missed I can't wait to find them!

Chronicles of the Damned - an epic saga Nov 18, 2009
By Phoenix Doval

The world as we know it is nothing more than illusion cast by the dark creatures we have always believed to be nothing more than mere fiction. In Chronicles of the Damned these creatures, vampires and werewolves, not only exist but hold the key in determining the human existence.
The characters involved are brought to life with so much detail and background it is impossible to feel detached from their struggles. Their experiences are brought to life in a story that is beautifully fast paced, detailed, and full of excitement. Secret societies, wars raging throughout the millennia...love and hate, death and rebirth, deception and acceptance....
This is a book that once you start you don't want to put down.
I have read Chronicles of the Damned twice and just picked up again to read a third time. With each read I find something new and exciting I never noticed before. This is a must read for everyone...
